MLB Weekly Roundup
As the early part of the season comes to a close, a few teams have begun to establish themselves as true contenders. 20-plus games is typically enough to tell whether a team will be good or bad, and here are a few of the storylines that have stood out so far 👇
The Reds are 3-19, their worst start in franchise history
Braves starter Kyle Wright looks like he's making good on the potential that made him the 5th pick in 2017, thwarting opponents with a 1.13 ERA across 24 frames
STL Reliever Ryan Helsley clipped 103 MPH on the fastest pitch of the season
Cards 3B Nolan Arenado won the National League Player of the Month with a .375 batting average and 1.125 OPS
Guardians 3B José Ramírez won the American League's award after leading the majors in RBI and posting the second-best OPS and home-run total
Outside of the MLB, take a look at Tennessee's Ben Joyce throw a 105 MPH fastball vs. Auburn. That is FAST 💨

The Evil Empire Is BACK
With their 3-2 win in the series-opener against the Blue Jays, the New York Yankees extended MLB's longest winning streak of the young season to 10 games. Despite starting out the season with mostly lackluster performances from their reloaded offense, their pitching has dominated enough to keep every game competitive. Take a look compared to the rest of the league 👇
3rd in pitching fWAR (1st in the American League)
1st in pitcher wins
2nd in ERA
And while their pitching has given the team some breathing room, their offense has begun to round into shape 🔥
Joey Gallo homered on back-to-back days and his teammate Anthony Rizzo now leads the majors in HRs
With his stock at a career low, Gleyber Torres looks to be heating up, accounting for all three of the Yankees' RBIs, including the go-ahead run in yesterday's win
Aaron Judge is already on fire with basically the best batted-ball profile in baseball
The catcher position remains a question, but the Yankees have found more than enough answers to carry them to the best record in baseball. Here's how the lines are shaping up in Game 2 vs. the Blue Jays

Holy Rollers
Despite being the best player of his generation, Mike Trout has made the playoffs just once, losing to the eventual AL pennant winning Royals in 2014. In his 12th big-league season, it seems like the Halos have finally built a contending team around Trout. With some big-money free agent signings and solid player development, the Angels are looking like the team to beat in the AL West 👀
3B Anthony Rendon is healthy and contributing after missing most of his first season in Anaheim
Mike Trout's 1.180 OPS (on-base + slugging) is the best in baseball, and would be the best of his unparalleled career
28-year-old OF Taylor Ward is right there with Trout, emerging as a potential star and batting a league-best .390
At 15-9, they've built a two-game lead over the Astros, and should only improve when Shohei Ohtani inevitably starts to click. Here's how Vegas has them faring against the Red Sox today 👇
Angels vs. Red Sox Betting Preview (subject to change)
Spread: Angels -1.5 (+130), Red Sox +1.5 (-160)
Moneyline: Angels -126, Red Sox +108
O/U: 8.5 total runs
