Worst Division In The NFL? πŸ’©

Another Monday Night Football game, another matchup from the worst division in the NFL. Tom Brady's Buccaneers need every win they can get at this point, while the Saints have been unable to find a rhythm all year. Sneaky important game, let's get into it 🏈 (3 min read)

A Disappointing Division

The struggles across the NFC South have been obvious all season, with all four teams currently boasting losing records. If that trend continues, it would add to the list of recent sub .500 division champions consisting of Washington in 2020, the Panthers in 2014 and the Seahawks in 2010 (also known as the "Beast Mode" game) 😀

The only squad with a realistic chance to move into winning territory is Tampa Bay (5-6), who will look to get back on track tonight πŸ΄β€β˜ οΈ

  • The Bucs' play has been inconsistent all season. Tom Brady and co. have posted some impressive wins against NFC playoff contenders in Dallas and Seattle, but have lost to a number of bottom feeders

  • After building some momentum with back-to-back wins, they found a way to blow an incredibly winnable game in Cleveland last week

Dallas' opponent tonight has failed to generate any momentum this year, struggling to find continuity at the quarterback position. New Orleans elected to stick with former backup Andy Dalton despite starter Jameis Winston returning from a back injury, and the results haven't been promising. The Saints are coming off their first shutout loss since 2002, which also took place vs. San Francisco πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

Will Tampa Bay Figure It Out?

Things felt so promising for Tampa Bay with only minutes to go vs. the Browns β€” the Bucs had looked in control for much of the game, and were so close to finally getting back above .500. This rare positive vibe in Tampa Bay's season from hell was quickly extinguished, as the Bucs choked away the game on a series of disappointing plays. This was par for the course in what has been a remarkably frustrating year 😳

  • The Bucs entered the season with the second best Super Bowl odds, but their play has failed to live up to the expectation. Brady's supposed final season has proven so depressing that some are speculating he could head back to New England for a final ride

  • Last week's disappointing finish didn't do anything to quell those rumors, and one of Brady's more inconceivable records was snapped in the process πŸ‘‡

The Saints have struggled to establish a winning culture following future Hall of Famer Drew Brees' retirement two seasons ago. It seemed like Jameis Winston was the QB of the future in New Orleans after a promising inaugural season as a starter was cut short due to an ACL injury vs. these same Buccaneers. However, after more injuries, new HC Dennis Allen refused to reinsert Winston into the starting role despite his current availability πŸ‘€

  • It's difficult to justify Allen's decision, as the Saints' offense has been bad with Dalton under center. They've averaged only 12.5 PPG over their past four games

  • Winston didn't hold back when his discussing his emotions surrounding the benching 😒

Trivia Question: Tom Brady holds nearly ever QB record, including, of course, wins. With 248 careers Ws, he sits a whopping 60 wins over his closest competitor β€” who's No. 2?

For My Parlay Gurus

It's hard to believe in this Bucs team after so many disheartening losses, but I don't see Tom Brady letting this season completely slip away. I like the Bucs defense to make life difficult for this struggling New Orleans squad, and the offense to generate just enough plays to pull out the win. Take a look πŸ‘‡

  • Bucs -3.5 vs. Saints: -102

  • UNDER 41 Total Points: -110
