The WNBA Season Has Begun
With nearly two weeks of the WNBA regular season in the books, there's still plenty of unanswered questions in the standings. The majority of teams are missing players due to COVID-19 protocols, injuries or overseas commitments π
Since Spanish and Turkish league competitions are finishing up this weekend, we'll see players like reigning Finals MVP Kahleah Cooper, Satou Sabally and Kayla McBride back stateside
Breanna Stewart and Natasha Cloud have missed multiple games for their teams due to COVID-19 protocols, which led to Cloud slamming the WNBA over its travel policy
We're also awaiting word on Brittney Griner, who has been detained in Russia since February. Players and coaches around the league have shown their support β Chris Paul wore a BG shirt ahead of Game 5 vs. Dallas last week π
Despite a chaotic start to the season, it's only a matter of time before teams start to separate themselves from the pack. Let's take a quick look at the 2022 WNBA Championship Odds π
Las Vegas Aces: +270 (bet $100, win $270)
Connecticut Sun: +370
Chicago Sky: +500
Seattle Storm: +550
Phoenix Mercury: +800
Tonight, however, is not a normal WNBA night. We actually have two Commissioner's Cup games, an in-season competition (see full rules here) that started last year. The Aces have jumped out to a hot start, but more on that below β οΈ

Lynx @ Aces Preview
The Minnesota Lynx have had a rough start to the season, opening 0-4 for the second straight year before finally getting a W on Tuesday vs. the Sparks. The Aces, on the other hand, are 4-1 and tied for the best record in the league with the Mystics and Dream. There's clearly a big disparity between the two squads, hence the insane betting lines πLynx vs. Aces Betting Preview (subject to change)
Spread: Aces -11.5
Moneyline: Aces -800 (bet $800, win $100), Lynx +520 (bet $100, win $520)
Over/Under: 167.5
The Lynx had to make some difficult decisions due to salary cap issues, making GM/Head Coach Cheryl Reeve look like the villain
Before the season started, Minnesota waived All-Star Layshia Clarendon and 2020 ROY Crystal Dangerfield π³
Last week, they bought out former No. 1 pick Angel McCoughtry's contract and parted ways with former No. 2 pick Odyssey Sims
The Lynx's roster is a mess, and without Naphessa Collier, who is pregnant, they don't look nearly as good as last year
Over in Las Vegas, under first year head coach Becky Hammon, the Aces look ready to hoist their first championship trophy π
Vegas leads the league with 89.8 PPG, 47.7 FG% and 43.0 3P%
They also have three players averaging 15+ PPG in Kelsey Plum, Jackie Young and A'ja Wilson. Not to mention, Wilson already racked up a Western Conference Player of the Week honor
While depth is still a concern for the Aces, it's not enough to slow them down. I think they'll take care of business tonight against a Lynx team who is still searching for their identity π°
Trivia Question: A'ja Wilson has posted four double-doubles in five game this season, bringing her career total to 41, tied for second-most in Aces history. Can you name the leader on that list? (answer below)

Wings @ Mercury Preview
The Wings and Mercury both sit at 2-2, which places them at No. 6 and No. 7 in the standings, and gives us more interesting betting lines than the previous game. These two teams have had plenty of rotation questions to sort through, as Satou Sabally (DAL), Brianna Turner (PHX) and Diamond DeShields (PHX) were all finishing up in Europe π
Wings vs. Mercury Betting Preview (subject to change)
Spread: Mercury -4.5
Moneyline: Mercury -192, Wings +154
Over/Under: 160.5
The one player the Wings can always count on is All-Star Arike Ogunbowale. She leads the team with 15.3 PPG, and Dallas is a perfect 2-0 when she scores 20+ points this season
On Sunday, Ogunbowale recorded her 52nd career 20-point game. That's the most in the WNBA since she joined in 2019 π₯
Plus, she's got this Luka-esque one-legger in her bag
As for the Mercury, they have five players averaging double-figures this season, led by Skylar Diggins-Smith at 17.0 PPG (12th in WNBA)
Phoenix has only played the Aces and Storm this season, winning two against Seattle, but dropping both to Las Vegas
Tensions ran high in the Mercury's second loss to the Aces on Tuesday, as Diggins-Smith and Diana Taurasi had to be separated after a heated exchange π¬
Despite a little beef between the Mercury's dynamic guards, their offense should allow them to cruise past the Wings tonight at home β

For My Parlay Gurus
As teams get back to full strength, the cream will start to rise to the top. I don't foresee the Aces slowing down under Becky Hammon's pace-and-space style basketball, so I like Las Vegas over Minnesota. Pair that with Phoenix over Dallas and we have our first WNBA parlay of the season π
Aces -11.5 vs. Lynx: -110
Mercury -4.5 vs. Wings: -106
