Wisconsin (+2.5) Is 5-0 In One Possession Games This Season

The Badgers have been cool in the clutch all year — are we due for another nail-biter tonight when they host Purdue? After last weekend's chaos, we're not ruling anything out 🍿 (4 minute read)

Ja Morant had the dunk of the year & this insane buzzer-beater two minutes later 🥵 — let’s talk top-10 college hoops 👇

Purdue vs. Wisconsin Preview

If you weren’t convinced this year’s March Madness has serious potential to be one of the craziest we’ve seen in a while, this past weekend should’ve done the trick. Eight of the country’s top ten teams took an L on what was a wild Saturday, including the entire top-6 (first time ever) 🤯

Tonight’s slate is once again loaded with ranked action, with 12 members of the Top-25 set to suit up. There’s tough competition, but the game of the night may be the one going down at the Kohl Center between Wisconsin and Purdue. Take a look at the lines ahead of the Big Ten battle 👇

  • Spread: Purdue -2.5

  • Moneyline: Purdue -140 (bet $140, win $100), Wisconsin +116 (bet $100, win $116)

  • Over/Under: 144.5

The Big Ten Title Race

One of the beneficiaries of Saturday’s mayhem was Wisconsin, who escaped Rutgers with an impressive road victory and re-entered the top 10 for the second time this season 🧀

  • An unranked afterthought back in November, the Badgers continue to cement themselves as one of the most consistent teams in the nation. They now control their own destiny in the race for the Big Ten regular season crown 👑

  • Hot on their tail is Purdue, who were locked in a first place tie with Wisco prior to losing a heartbreaker to Michigan State over the weekend

With the top two teams in the conference set to clash tonight, implications are massive, and the Badgers can clinch at least a share of the Big Ten title with a win. They’ll surely be hoping for a repeat of the season’s first meeting between the two squads

  • On January 3rd, Wisconsin became the first (and only) team to take down Purdue at home this season, besting the Boilermakers 74-69

  • Wooden Award candidate Johnny Davis (+600) exploded for a career-high 37 points that game

  • One of Purdue’s own All-American candidates, Zach Edey, showed out as well in the hard-fought matchup, notching a double-double with 24 points and 10 boards

Both stars should be heavily featured in round two, and smart money is on this one coming down to the wire again. If that’s the case, Wisconsin should feel right at home — they’re 5-0 in games decided by three points or less this season 🧊

Trivia question: Wisconsin last won the Big Ten outright in 2015 — who was their leading scorer that season? (answer below)

Other Conference Contenders

The Big Ten isn’t the only conference with action at the top of the standings tonight. The top two teams in both the Big East and the Pac-12 are also matched up — peep the lines ahead of the high-profile showdowns 👇

  • Spread: Villanova -10

  • Moneyline: Villanova -530, Providence +390

  • Over/Under: 134.5

If Providence hadn’t already clinched the Big East title (the first in program history), the second meeting of the season between the Friars and the Wildcats might be my pick for game of the night

  • Villanova handed Providence just their third loss of the season when the two teams met two weeks ago. Nova’s Collin Gillespie led all scorers with 33 points, a career-high for the veteran guard, in the 89-84 win

  • Nova has lost just one game at home this season, but Providence has just one loss on the road

A conference title might not be at stake, but bragging rights and a season sweep on the line should be more than enough motivation for both teams 😤

  • Spread: Arizona -5

  • Moneyline: Arizona -210, USC +172

  • Over/Under: 150.5

The red-hot Trojans have returned to their early season form, having rattled off six straight wins, and are now the lone threat to Arizona’s claim of the Pac-12 crown

  • The last team to beat USC was Arizona, with the Wildcats fending off their conference rival at home, 72-63

  • But, Pac-12 Player of the Year favorite and likely first round pick Benedict Mathurin only dropped eight points in the win, one of just three times he’s finished with less than 10 points this year

Expect Zona’s star guard to be more involved in this one, especially if the Trojans keep their momentum rolling and come out firing 🔥

For My Parlay Gurus

I’ve got a feeling we might see some pretty wild finishes across the three elite rematches going down tonight. I can’t decide on the late-night Pac-12 game, but here are my picks for the other two 👇

  • Wisconsin +2.5 vs. Purdue: -110

  • Providence +10 @ Villanova: -110

$100 on this parlay would net $264 — if we hit, make sure to email [email protected] for $100*. First come, first serve 😉

Trivia answer: Frank Kaminsky led the Badgers in points, rebounds, assists and blocks in 2015, as Wisconsin finished national runner-up, losing to Duke in the championship game. Kaminsky won the Wooden Award for his efforts
