Projected Win Totals For Teams Playing Tonight ๐Ÿˆ

Tonight marks the start of the final week of NFL preseason football, meaning it's the last chance for teams to iron out the kinks before the real thing. We're doing a Green Bay spotlight with win O/U for the other teams in action ๐Ÿค‘ (4 min read)

End Of An Era?

Over the past few years, we've seen a number of legendary players hang up their cleats for good (and for the most part, theyโ€™ve actually stayed retired ๐Ÿ˜œ) โ€” Philip Rivers, Big Ben, Frank Gore and Gronk are some of the biggest names that come to mind. Could Aaron Rodgers be next in line after this upcoming season?

  • It was an offseason rampant with speculation regarding the superstar quarterbackโ€™s future, with possible outcomes including a trade, retirement, and even a new gig as Jeopardy host

  • Many are still convinced heโ€™s nearly ready to call it a career, but after some contract tweaking, Rodgers is back with the Green & Gold for at least one more season

  • On the field, his GOAT case only improved last year in his age-37 season, with 4,115 yards, 37 TDs and just 4 INTs en route to a second straight MVP trophy ๐Ÿ†

But despite the gaudy regular season numbers, postseason success has largely eluded the Packers in recent years

  • After entering the playoffs as the NFC's top seed, last season ended with a disappointing loss to the 49ers in the Divisional round. The Packers have yet to return to the Super Bowl after winning it in 2010, despite eight division titles since then ๐Ÿคฏ

  • Those playoff woes, along with his outspoken nature, is largely why Rodgers is more polarizing than someone with his stats should be; so much so that some analysts canโ€™t even make up their own minds ๐Ÿ˜‚

Regardless of which Skip you agree with, ARod is going to get his this season, no doubt. But how much will the loss of his most explosive playmaker affect Green Bay's success?

  • After eight years of linking with Rodgers to form one of the deadliest QB-WR combos in the league, Davante Adams brought his talents to the Raiders, and Green Bay will look to replace him with a crop of unproven rookies

  • Regardless of the Adams-sized hole, oddsmakers are still bullish on the Pack this year, giving them -155 odds (bet $155, win $100) to win the NFC North and a win O/U total of 10.5

I expect Rodgers and the offense to take a slight step back this season without Davante, but with a great defense and a weak division, I'm taking over 10.5 wins this season ๐Ÿ’ฐ

Trivia Question: Who was the last WR not named Davante Adams to have a 1,000-yard season for the Packers? (answer below)

Teams In Action Tonight

Rodgers wonโ€™t be suiting up, but his Packers will be taking the field tonight, as Week 3 of the NFL preseason gets underway with a two-game slate. Hereโ€™s a quick primer on the other three teams in action ๐Ÿ‘‡

๐Ÿ“ Kansas City Chiefs

Win Total O/U: 10.5

The Packers opponent tonight, the Chiefs, also lost their superstar WR this offseason when they dealt Tyreek Hill to the Dolphins

  • With Mahomes and Kelce still in town, joined by reinforcements like JuJu Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling, the Chiefs' offense should still be one of the NFLโ€™s best. But playing in the gauntlet that is the AFC West this season, KC is no lock to hit their ambitious win total

  • The Pick: Over

๐Ÿ“ San Francisco 49ers

Win Total O/U: 9.5

The Niners have been one of the most unpredictable teams in the league over the past few seasons, and this year looks no different

  • It all boils down to 22-year-old QB Trey Lance, who could elevate San Fran to Super Bowl contention if he plays up to his potential. But tying those hopes to a guy with 71 career pass attempts is a risky proposition

  • The Pick: Under

๐Ÿ“ Houston Texans

Win Total O/U: 4.5

Weโ€™re set to kick off year two of the Davis Mills era in Houston, and it remains to be seen if it will be an extended one

  • It doesn't seem like oddsmakers expect Mills to seize the role with authority this year; if win total lines are any indication, the Texans and Falcons will be duking it out for the (dis)honor of picking first in next year's draft ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

  • The Pick: Under

For My Parlay Gurus

In case you forgot, preseason is down from four games to three, which makes this week's games the last chance for teams to see their guys in action prior to the regular season. While it's already been announced several starters will be sitting, I still expect some competitive play tonight. Here's the parlay I'm going with ๐Ÿ‘‡

  • Chiefs ML vs. Packers: -105

  • 49ers -3.5 vs. Texans: -110

$100 on this bet would win you $273 โ€” if we hit, make sure you email [email protected] for a chance to win up to $100*. Many will enter, only some will win ๐Ÿ˜‰
