Champions League Update
The 2022 Champions League Final is nearly set, and on one end of the pitch will be Liverpool, a club very familiar with this stage of the tournament. However, the road to their third finals appearance in their last five attempts didn't come without some bumps 😬
Entering yesterday’s second leg with a 2-0 aggregate lead over Villareal, Liverpool saw that advantage evaporate as they faced a two-goal deficit at halftime
But the Reds responded in style, scoring all three of their second half goals in a 12-minute span to avoid the nightmare collapse and advance on a 5-2 aggregate score
It remains to be seen who Liverpool will face off against on May 28th with the UCL title on the line, but that will be settled today in the second leg of the other semifinal matchup. Either option would provide plenty of intrigue 😎
Will it be their English rival Manchester City, the team they trail by just a point at the top of the Premier League table, and who finished runner-up in last year’s tournament?
Or will it be Real Madrid, by far the most dominant club in Champions League history, with 13 titles to their credit?
Tough to go wrong with either squad, which makes today’s semifinal matchup all the more exciting 🍿

Man City vs. Real Madrid Preview
Today’s match may be in Madrid, but that doesn’t mean oddsmakers are putting too much stock on home field advantage. Take a look a how the lines are shaping up 👇
Man City vs. Real Madrid Betting Preview (subject to change)
Moneyline: Man City +105 (bet $100 to win $105), Real Madrid +210, Draw +300

If today’s action is anything like the first leg of this semifinal showdown (👈 watch this), we’re in for a wild ride 😅
The two clubs combined for seven goals in last Tuesday’s match in Manchester, including a pair from Madrid’s star striker Karim Benzema
Four different players entered the scoring column for Man City, and this superb header from Kevin De Bruyne within the first two minutes was the fastest goal ever scored in a Champions League semifinal 🤯
Need more reason to bet the over? Madrid hasn't scored less than two goals in a match since March, while Man City has totaled 18 goals over their last five matches 🔥

Stars To Watch
Regardless of today’s outcome, you can’t deny Karim Benzema has had an epic Champions League performance. And if he can will Madrid to the championship, it has the chance to be historic 😤
There is no hotter player in the world than the Frenchman — across his last three UCL matches, he’s found the back of the net six times
His two goals last match weren’t enough to lead Madrid to victory, but at 14 goals for the tournament, he now sits alone atop the scorers table, and just three off Christiano Ronaldo’s UCL record of 17 from 2013-14
A Madrid staple of over a decade, Benzema has long been one of the premier players in the world, but now at 34 years-old he has emerged as the favorite for his first ever Ballon d'Or (given annually to the best player in the world) at 2/1 odds
But one of his top competitors for the award, Man City’s De Bruyne, will have the opportunity to swing the narrative in his direction by securing a spot in the UCL Final
The star midfielder has made it clear he has his eyes on every trophy there is, and Man City’s elusive first European Cup is undoubtedly at the top of that list
Needing to make up ground, the pressure will be on Benzema and Madrid right out of the gate. But, as the first half of yesterday’s match taught us, De Bruyne and Man City can’t get too comfortable 🤷🏻♂️
Trivia Question: Since 2007, only one player aside from Messi or Ronaldo has won the Ballon d'Or. Who was it? (answer below)

For My Parlay Gurus
Real Madrid faces an uphill climb today, and while I expect them to give Man City one heck of a battle, I've got this one ending in a hard-fought draw that sets up a second-straight all-English Champions League Final. But, although his legendary UCL run will come to an end, I'm banking on Benzema going out with a bang. Check it out 👇
