Western Conference Finals Preview

The Western Conference Finals between the Golden State Warriors and Dallas Mavericks are set to tip off tonight, and one on end of the star-studded matchup is a team many expected to be here ⭐️

  • The Warriors entered the playoffs with the fourth-best title odds (+850), and they’re now just four wins away from their sixth Finals appearance in the last eight seasons

Standing in their way, however, is a man by the name of Luka Doncic, who just proved he has no issues playing the underdog role

  • Dallas believers could've gotten the Mavs to win the title at +4000 prior to the start of the first round, and they were 6.5-point dogs in Sunday's elimination game in Phoenix

Oddsmakers haven't learned their lesson, however, as they are once again doubting the Mavericks on the road tonight. Here’s how the lines are looking ahead of the series opener at the Chase Center 👇

  • Spread: Warriors -5

  • Moneyline: Warriors -210 (bet $210, win $100), Mavs +176 (bet $100, win $176)

  • Over/Under: 214.5

Trivia Question: This year, Dallas advanced past the first round of the playoffs for the first time since their title in 2011. Behind franchise legend Dirk Nowitzki, who was the second-leading scorer on that championship team? (answer below)

The Case For Golden State

It’s been just a few short years since the Warriors last played for a championship, but for Golden State fans spoiled with five straight Finals appearances from 2015-19, that must feel like an eternity 😂

Fortunately for them, this year’s squad has a great shot at ending that “drought”, and it all starts with the iconic trio that architected those previous Finals' runs

  • Not much has changed in regards to the Splash Brothers; it’s still raining plenty this time of year. Steph and Klay are the only two remaining players with 40+ threes this postseason, and the duo combined for 59 points and 14 threes in their closeout win over the Grizzlies last Friday

  • In addition to his signature standout defense, Draymond Green has led the Warriors in rebounds and/or assists in nine of their 11 playoff games, and his impact as an emotional leader in a high-pressure setting can’t be understated. Not even Luka can deny the Draymond effect

Dealing with Golden State’s Big Three is difficult enough on its own, but part of what makes the Warriors so difficult to gameplan against is the contributions they get elsewhere

  • Jordan Poole has five games this postseason with at least 27 points, Andrew Wiggins has posted a double-double in two out of his last three, and Kevon Looney just grabbed 22 boards last game, including 11 on the offensive end

  • All those weapons still not enough to convince you the Warriors are a wagon? They also finished second in the league in defensive efficiency for good measure 💪

Long story short, there’s a reason why the Warriors are heavy favorites to advance to the Finals (-250), and don’t be shocked if they show it tonight in front of their home crowd 😎

The Case For Dallas

The case for backing the Mavericks this series is really quite simple — are you really gonna bet against Luka Doncic right now?

  • The Slovenian superstar outscored the entire Suns’ team in the first half of Sunday’s Game 7 blowout victory, finishing with 35 points and 10 boards, and laughing while doing it

  • For the playoffs, he leads the Mavericks in points (31.5), rebounds (10.1), assists (6.5), and steals (1.9). Just look how he fared against Phoenix’s best (👈 insane) last series 🤯

While he’s risen to the occasion in the playoffs, the brilliance of Luka was never really in doubt. But what has truly propelled Dallas to new heights is the emergence of star power around him 🌟

  • One of the most underrated players in the NBA, Jalen Brunson is finally getting the national attention he deserves. His breakout season has reached the next level in the playoffs, where he’s averaging nearly 23 PPG

  • Joining Luka and Brunson to form a dangerous backcourt trio is Spencer Dinwiddie, and under-the-radar midseason pickup who just dropped 30 his last time out

Brunson and Dinwiddie will need to maintain their high level of play if Dallas going to go blow for blow with Golden State’s high-octane attack. But for what it's worth, it was the Mavericks who took three of the four matchups in the regular season 🐸

For My Parlay Gurus

The Warriors are 5-0 in the WCF in the Steve Kerr era, and as much as I love Luka, I don't see that record adding a loss this year. Both teams come into the opener playing well on the defensive end, but I got this series getting off to hot start offensively in a matchup that leans the home team's way. Check out this parlay 👇

  • Warriors -5 vs. Mavericks: -110

  • Over 214.5: -110

$100 on this bet would win you $264 — if we hit, make sure you email [email protected] for a chance to win up to $100*. Many will enter, only some will win 😉
