New QBs, Definitely Problems

There were expectations surrounding both the Denver Broncos and Indianapolis Colts heading into this season β€” both teams made splashy acquisitions at the quarterback spot, signing Russell Wilson and Matt Ryan to lead their respective squads 🀨

  • Despite this, the Broncos and Colts rank in the bottom of the NFL in terms of offense, both scoring only 6 total offensive TDs in three games. Denver is putting up 16.5 ppg, while Indianapolis is only managing to score 14.3 ppg

  • After stringing together a couple of wins following an unexpected loss to Geno Smith and the Seahawks, the Broncos faltered once again on Sunday, failing to beat a Raiders team that had yet to grab a win

  • Russell Wilson was held to just 17 total yards during the final 9:50 of the contest...even with potential a home crowd 😏

  • Colts: +200 to win the AFC South, tied with the Titans and behind the Jags at +155

  • Broncos: +500 to win the AFC West, behind the Chiefs at -170 and Chargers at +380

Offensive Woes Continued

The over for tonight's match-up sits at 42.5 total points, which as mentioned earlier, exceeds both teams' average scoring...a combined 30.8 PPG. Dating back to last season, the Colts have gone under in nine consecutive games, while the Broncos under has hit in 11 of their last 15 tries. It is important to note here that Teddy Bridgewater was calling the shots in Denver last season, while Carson Wentz was QB1 for Indianapolis 🀒

  • Jonathan Taylor, the No. 1 overall fantasy football selection, thanks to a stellar 2021 campaign (1,811 total yards to go along with 20 TDs), has been ruled out for the game. So has Denver's star RB Javonte Williams

  • I have have one of the two of them on both my fantasy teams...feel this πŸ‘‡

The offenses have both sucked, but Vegas can't go too low with the points due to the potential of both teams πŸ“ˆ

  • Spread: Broncos -3.5

  • Moneyline: Broncos -172 (bet $172 to win $100), Colts +144 (bet $100 to win $144)

  • O/U: 42.5 total points

Washed Allegations

Matt Ryan, as with most of his career, is fighting doubt from the majority of the football community, outside of a sub-section of Colts fans. While he has looked a step slow and been unable to maintain ball security (he's fumbled 10 times in 15 quarters of play), Indianapolis' offensive line needs to live up to the $42.2M in cap room that the team has invested πŸ’Έ

Here are my betting takes πŸ‘‡

  • Betting on the Broncos suggests a firm belief in Jerry Jeudy, who leads the squad with two TDs and is 10th in the league when it comes to yards per reception (16.6)

  • Betting on the Colts is a bet on the team's staunch defense, which ranks sixth in both total yards (297) and rushing yards (89.5) allowed

For My Parlay Gurus

I'm all in on the under for this game, especially one in which the Colts are missing their best offensive weapon in Jonathan Taylor. Add in the fact that Javonte Williams isn't playing, and I expect the Broncos to sling the ball Courtland Sutton's way...have a feeling he's going to have a big day. Peep my parlay πŸ‘‡

  • Colts vs. Broncos Under 42.5 Total Points: -112

  • Courtland Sutton Anytime TD Scorer: +150
