Miggy's Moment
Becoming the third Tiger and 33rd major leaguer to tally 3000 hits, Miguel Cabrera put what could be the final exclamation mark on what has already been a no-brainer first-ballot Hall of Fame career 🏆
The two-time AL MVP has run up these incredible accolades over the course of his two-decade career 👇
Won the American League Triple Crown in 2012, one of 10 to ever win the Triple Crown in either league, and the first to do it since 1967
2003 World Series Champion
2x American League MVP
7x Silver Slugger
2x AL Hank Aaron Award
11x All-Star
His power production fell off a cliff in 2018, but the approach is as true as ever. His picture perfect swing remains a top instructional tool around baseball. For a window into the texture of peak-Miggy's talent, check out Matthew Futterman's contemporary profile on the game's greatest hitter of his era here 📋
Trivia Question: Besides Cabrera, can you name any of the other six players in MLB history with at least 3000 hits and 500 HRs? (answer below)

Buxton Is Bashing
Last season, Byron Buxton, the second overall pick in the 2012 draft, opened up the year on a tear, batting .426 through April with eight homers and 29 hits in just 68 at bats, earning the American League Player of the Month. Finally, it seemed as though the star prospect from Georgia had finally achieved a level of sustained health to make good on his hyper-rare potential 🔥
Unfortunately, hip and hamstring strains forced him out of the lineup, before being hit by a pitch in his return, fracturing his wrist and costing him the rest of his season. At that point, Buxton had run up an extensive list of physical maladies in his short career 🤕
Sprained thumb, knee contusion, back spasms, groin strain, migraines, strained wrist, fractured toe, concussion-like symptoms, bruised right wrist, shoulder surgery, sprained foot, hamstring strain, hip strain & a fractured hand
Entering the 2022 season, the Twins decided to cash-in on Buxton's immense talent, albeit at an availability induced discount, inking Buxton to a seven-year, $100M contract. So far it's paid off, as Buxton has opened the 2022 season playing like an MVP, even while missing a week after banging his knee on a slide into second base. Among players with at least 40 at bats, Buxton leads all of these categories 👇
Homers (6)
Slugging (.946)
OPS (1.361)
wOBA (.580)
wRC+ (296)
ISO (.595)
While it won't be possible for him to continue hitting this well, let's hope he can stay healthy and continue to ride the high of what was likely his greatest weekend as a professional baseball player

For My Parlay Gurus
Today's series-opener between the Tigers and Twins features a pair of pitchers in their first season with new teams. The Tigers just signed Eduardo Rodriguez to a five-year $77M free agent deal, whereas Chris Paddack enters his third start as a Twin
Paddack's been up-and-down, with lesser lows, but Rodriguez has been consistently mediocre throughout his career. I've got the Twins winning, along with the Yankees covering behind Luis Severino -- check it out 👇
Twins moneyline vs. Tigers: -154
Yankees -1.5 vs. Orioles: -140
$100 on this bet would win you $183 -- if we hit, make sure you email [email protected] for $100*. Many will enter, only some will win 😉
Trivia Answer: Besides Cabrera, Albert Pujols, Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Eddie Murray, Alex Rodriguez, and Rafael Palmeiro are the other six players with at least 500 HRs and 3000 hits
