MLB Roundup

This past week was one of baseball's most exciting so far this season, with a handful of clear winners and losers heading towards the end of May. Check out who earned some MLB honors 👇

  • AL Player of the Week: Red Sox SS Trevor Story snapped out of his cold start to the season with a three-homer game last Thursday, followed by a grand slam the following day

  • NL Player of the Week: Marlins ace Sandy Alcántara shoved his way to a magnificent two-start week, going eight strong on May 16th before tossing a complete game without an earned run six days later

With a full slate of baseball on the schedule, there's two pairs of division rivals that are set to face off in what should be the most exciting games of the night 🔥

Phillies @ Braves Preview

Amidst a sizable gap between the Mets and the rest of the division, the Phillies and Braves are locked in a battle for second place. Tonight, they'll duke it out in the final contest of a four-game series ⬇️

  • Spread: Braves -1.5

  • Moneyline: Braves -126 (bet $126, win $100), Phillies +108 (bet $100, win $108)

  • O/U: 8

Offensively, each team is armed with a bevy of power bats, including two of the top power hitting outfielders in baseball

  • Despite spending most of his time as the designated hitter due to an elbow injury, Bryce Harper has followed up the second MVP campaign of his career with 10 HRs and a slugging percentage over .600 👀

  • Ronald Acuña Jr. hasn't quite shaken off the rust of his near-year spent recovering from a torn ACL, but his bad is better than almost everyone else's best. However, he was scratched from last night's game so his health remains the focal point

The Phillies' Aaron Nola (3.96 ERA, 39th in MLB) will go head-to-head against the Braves' trustworthy young starter Kyle Wright (2.49 ERA, 15th in MLB) tonight. With a 4-2 record, I think Wright can carry Atlanta in this one 🍑

Yankees @ Rays Preview

Despite their MLB-best record, the Yankees have struggled to maintain the momentum they opened up the season with in recent days. After dropping three straight, they got back on track with a ninth inning walk-off win over the Orioles on Tuesday due to Texas native Jose Trevino's emotionally-charged heroics 🙏

  • After smacking a game-winning single down the left field line, Trevino shared his sympathy for the victims of the school shooting in Uvalde, TX, just a couple of hours from his hometown

  • Then, he dedicated the win to his late father, who raised Jose to be a die-hard Yankee fan, but passed away before he was able to see his son turn pro 😔

As for tonight, the Yankees will be up against the Rays, who have crept into second place in the AL East. Both of these offenses have produced very similar stats to begin the season:

  • NY Yankees: .242 BA, .323 OBP & .418 SLG

  • TB Rays: .241 BA, .303 OBP & .394 SLG

The one person carrying New York's lineup is Aaron Judge, who leads the MLB in home runs with 17. Judge is attempting to earn the biggest possible bag when he becomes a free agent this offseason, so I'm always betting on him and the Yanks this year 🗽

Yankees vs. Rays Betting Preview (subject to change)

  • Spread: Yankees -1.5

  • Moneyline: Yankees -126, Rays +108

Trivia Answer: Mickey Mantle and Babe Ruth each hit a dozen walk-off HRs for the Yankees, that's tied with four others for the second-most in MLB history, and trailing only Jim Thome's 13 for the most ever
