Masters History
Every golfer's dream is to win the Masters and add a Green Jacket to their closet. Since 1934, the Masters has been synonymous with greatness in the sport of golf. With a long list of historic records and moments, here's some of the most notable 👇
54 different players have lifted the coveted Masters trophy, including Jack Nicklaus (6, most wins) and Tiger Woods (5)
One of the best streaks is Gary Player's 23 consecutive cuts made. In order to make the cut after 36 holes (two rounds of golf), players must be in the top 50, counting ties ✂️
Arguably the most famous shot is Tiger's chip-in on the 16th hole (👈 must watch) in the final round of the 2005 tournament. Although the ball looked short, another rotation allowed it to drop in the hole...oh the DRAMA 😩
This year's tournament is stacked with the best professionals, however, most of them are missing "Masters Champion" on their resume. Players like Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas, and Brooks Koepka are among those who haven't won at Augusta National
Of the top 10 golfers in the world right now, only Dustin Johnson (8th) has a Green Jacket
One famous name missing from this year's tournament is Phil Mickelson, who's won the Masters three times. He's taking time away from the sport after receiving backlash for his comments on the Saudi Golf League

Round 1 Recap
After yesterday's Round 1, the odds to win the Masters has changed significantly. Jon Rahm has gone from being the betting favorite (+1200) before Thursday, to having the 10th-best odds at +2800 heading into Friday
The Aussie Cameron Smith, who is currently ranked No. 6 in the world, is the favorite to win. Still a lot of golf to play though
After 18 holes, Sungjae Im leads the way at -5. The 24-year-old South Korean was named Rookie of the Year for the 2018-19 PGA Tour
Last year's winner, Hideki Matsuyama, finished the day even
Cameron Smith: +550 (bet $100, win $550)
Dustin Johnson: +600
Scottie Scheffler: +700
Sungjae Im: +850
Patrick Cantlay: +1100
Of course, Tiger received all the betting traction before Thursday teed off. Not everyone was picking him to win though, he also raked in more than half the bets to miss Friday's cut. Love him or hate him, all eyes (and money 🤑) are on Tiger today

Tiger Is Back
After a car crash that nearly cost him his right leg in February 2021, Tiger Woods teed off at the 86th Masters. Playing in a fashionable pink Nike golf shirt, Tiger finished Round 1 one-under, good for a large 10th place tie. His odds to win the tournament went from +5000 to +4000 because of it
Woods made birdies on holes 6, 13, and 16, where he gave us his iconic fist pump after drilling a 30-footer
He hit just half of his fairways and greens, but still managed to score under par (-1)
After Round 1, Tiger was asked what his preparation would look like before his Round 2 tee time. He said, "lots of ice" 😂
Despite coming back from injury, this was the eleventh time that Tiger has shot under par in an opening round at the Masters
In nine of those ten previous instances, he finished inside the top 10, including four of his five wins
Tiger's last Masters win came back in 2019, which was huge for the sport, as it was his first Green Jacket since 2005
If Tiger can make the cut, his gallery will be massive in the final round on Sunday. He'll be sporting red, of course ❤️
