It's Playoff Time
WNBA playoff action kicks off tonight, with a number of familiar faces vying for this year's championship. We'll see aging legends like Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi (if available) look to snag yet another ring, while younger superstars like Kelsey Plum and Sabrina Ionescu set out to build their own legacies. Let's take a look at the top contenders for the crown 👑
The Chicago Sky and Las Vegas Aces have held serve atop the league's standings all year
Chicago looked like the best team in the league for much of the year, but finished the season 6-4
In the meantime, Las Vegas closed 8-2 and tied the Sky's 26-10 final record
They even got the attention of Ja Morant, who thinks this is their year 💍
The Aces hold the tiebreaker with Chicago, which grants them home-court advantage throughout the postseason. However, don't discount the Sky, or a number of other potential contenders for the title. It's a crowded field, so let's explore who has a legitimate shot 🏆
WNBA Championship Odds (subject to change)
Las Vegas Aces: +175 (bet $100, win $175)

The Cream Of The Crop
In the eyes of most fans, there are five teams this year with a realistic chance of winning it all. The first two are the obvious favorites in Las Vegas and Chicago — two teams with differing styles, but similar results. The Sky embody team-first basketball, boasting six double figure scorers this season 🔥
Chicago's ball-sharing philosophy stems from All-Star point guard Courtney Vandersloot, who has led the WNBA in assists six times 🎯
Vandersloot averaged 10.2 assists per game in the Sky's championship run last year
For the first time since 2016, Courtney Vandersloot didn't lead the WNBA in assists per game (she finished second this year behind Natasha Cloud).
2017: 8.1 APG (2nd-most that year: 6.6)
2018: 8.6 (7.1)
2019: 9.1 (6.0)
2020: 10.0 (5.8)
2021: 8.6 (6.4)One heck of a 5-year span

Of course, we'd be remiss not to mention the all-around excellence of Candace Parker, Chicago's leader and a Top-10 all-time player. CP's Sky will be up against Sabrina Ionescu's Liberty in the first round, a squad they went 3-1 against in the regular season ✅
Liberty vs. Sky Betting Preview (subject to change)
Spread: Sky -7.5
Moneyline: Sky -370 (bet $370, win $100), Liberty +280 (bet $100, win $280)
O/U: 165.5 Total Points
On the other hand, Las Vegas wields the league's most fearsome scoring attack, led by the dynamic duo of A'ja Wilson and Kelsey Plum. These two, along with teammate Jackie Young, averaged more points than any member of the Sky this season 👀
In fact, the Aces' star-studded offense posted the third-highest PPG average in WNBA history this year
The Aces scored 3,256 points this season in 36 games for a PPG average of 90.4.
That is the 3rd-highest in a single season in WNBA history.

The Aces will take on the Mercury in the first round, a team that's spent most of their season trying to bring home Brittney Griner. Could you imagine this matchup with BG in the mix? For now, it looks like Phoenix will have their hands full with the Aces 😬
Mercury vs. Aces Betting Preview (subject to change)
Spread: Aces -14.5
Moneyline: Aces -1400, Mercury +790
O/U: 167.5 Total Points
Trivia Question: Courtney Vandersloot is fourth all-time on the WNBA assists list. Who is number one? (answer below)

For My Parlay Gurus
I like to go with the underdogs, but I'm having trouble seeing either the Sky or Aces' first round opponents putting up a fight. So, I'm betting on each of these dynamic squads to kick off their playoff runs in style by covering spread. Check it out 👇
Sky -7.5 vs. Liberty: -112
Aces -14.5 vs. Mercury: -105
