Top WRs To Bet On This NFL Season

The league's offensive revolution is fully underway, and no position has thrived more in this new era than WRs. With so many stars looking to make a statement, who will take this year's receiving crown? πŸ‘‘ (3 min read)

We're talking WRs today, but tonight's parlay is Yankees ML vs. Royals and Phillies ML vs. Pirates. More info below on a chance to win $100 πŸ‘‡

In recent years, NFL teams have upped the ante on the passing game, triggering an offensive explosion. In this new football landscape, receivers have never held more value than they do today. This fact has been evidenced by some of the ridiculously lucrative deals that wide receivers have signed this offseason πŸ€‘

  • Davante Adams, considered by many to be the top WR in the league, was traded from Green Bay to Las Vegas and immediately signed a five-year, $141.25M deal

  • Tyreek Hill, who is hands-down the NFL's fastest player, departed Kansas City for Miami and was handed a new four-year, $120M contract

  • Other notable WRs to move are Robert Woods going to the Titans, A.J. Brown heading to the Eagles, Hollywood Brown reuniting with Kyler Murray in Arizona and JuJu Smith-Schuster joining the Chiefs

In case you forgot, Cooper Kupp is coming off perhaps the greatest individual season ever enjoyed by a WR. He was the first Triple Crown winner since Steve Smith Sr. in 2005, and was only 17 yards away from Calvin Johnson's all-time receiving yards record. Can anyone catch up to him this year? πŸ‘€

  • Justin Jefferson: +900 (bet $100, win $900)

  • Cooper Kupp: +1000

  • Ja'Marr Chase: +1200

  • Ceedee Lamb, Stefon Diggs, Davante Adams: +1400

  • Travis Kelce: +1600

  • Mike Evans & Tyreek Hill: +2000

Who Will Lead The Pack?

While Kupp may seem like the clear-cut choice to repeat as the NFL's receiving yards leader, I'm anticipating some regression to the mean. With the addition of Allen Robinson to Kupp, Van Jefferson and potentially Odell Beckham Jr. later in the season, LA's receiving core is stacked, and there are only so many targets to go around

Instead, I'm betting on Davante Adams to turn in an all-time season in his first campaign with the Raiders πŸ΄β€β˜ οΈ

  • Adams is reuniting with his close friend and college QB Derek Carr in Las Vegas

  • While some of Adams' comments on Carr have been a bit hyperbolic, it's clear that this QB-WR combo has serious chemistry

  • After tailing off toward the end of last year, look for a rejuvenated Carr to flourish with Adams and new head coach Josh McDaniels in the fold πŸ“ˆ

Of course, it's neither Kupp nor Adams leading the odds race for next year's receiving crown, but young star Justin Jefferson. Jefferson has been remarkably productive in his first two years in the league, but I think his main obstacle in the pursuit of this title will be Minnesota's mediocre QB play. Either way, many fantasy experts have him as one of the first WRs taken off the board 🏈

Jefferson's college teammate Ja'Marr Chase, on the other hand, will have no such issues in Cincinnati πŸ…

  • Many see the Bengals as a prime candidate to fall off after a shocking Super Bowl run, but the team improved dramatically over the offseason

  • Cincinnati addressed its glaring weakness at the offensive line, signing a number of accomplished veterans to protect superstar QB Joe Burrow

With better protection in the pocket, look for Burrow and Chase to only add to their record-setting numbers from last year πŸ”₯

Trivia Question: Cooper Kupp won Offensive Player of the Year for his ridiculous 2021 season β€” who was the last WR to do so? (answer below)

For My Parlay Gurus

Despite the bevy of rising talent across the league's receiving corps, I'm betting on Davante Adams to beat out the young guns and make a statement in his first season away from Aaron Rodgers. I considered pairing that with the rushing title bet, but that's a little too complicated. For tonight, let's go with another MLB parlay, take a look πŸ‘‡

  • Yankees ML vs. Royals: -235

  • Phillies ML vs. Pirates: -190

$100 on this bet would win you $118 β€” if we hit, make sure you email [email protected] for a chance to win up to $100*. Many will enter, only some will win πŸ˜‰

Trivia Answer: Michael Thomas broke the single-season receptions record and won OPOY in 2019. The last WR to win it before him was Jerry Rice in 1993 😀
