Around The League

We have entered Week 3 of the NBA season, time flies when you're watching the NFL, MLB or NCAAF 😅. With teams logging about ten games to dates, let's take a quick look at the best records and statistical leaders in this young season 👇

🏀 Best Teams

  • Bucks: 9-1

  • Cavs: 8-2

  • Jazz: 9-3

  • Celtics: 7-3

  • Hawks: 7-3

  • Suns: 7-3

  • Trail Blazers: 7-3

  • Nuggets: 7-3

Milwaukee suffered their first loss last night, but reminder that they don't have Khris Middleton, as he recovers from an injured wrist. Joe Ingles and Pat Connaughton are hurt as well. This team will be DEEP come 2023, the main reason why they have the best title odds at +500

🏀 Statistical Leaders

  • Scoring: Luka Doncic (36 PPG), Steph Curry (32.6), Giannis Antetokounmpo (31.8)

  • Passing: James Harden (10), Tyrese Haliburton (9.7), Trae Young (9.4)

  • Rebounding: Rudy Gobert (13.9 RPG), Nikola Vucevic (12.3), Giannis (12.2)

Luka is off to an incredibly hot start, even for him. He has yet to score less than 30 PTS in a game this season, with a high of 44 and two triple-doubles. We might finally see Doncic take home the MVP (+300), which would be the 5th in a row from an international player 🌎

The best part about the list of leaders above? Nothing is really a surprise. While the next generation is making noise, the top players in the league are still doing their thing on a nightly basis. Don't expect any of them to cool off anytime soon 🔥

Big Apple Battle

For the first time in NBA history, the league is coming to a stop on Election Day in order to promote civic engagement and encourage fans to get out and vote. That means there aren't any games today, but tomorrow night features a highly anticipated showdown 🗓

At 7:30 EST on ESPN, the battle for New York gets underway with the Knicks taking on the Nets in Brooklyn. So far, neither team has really lived up to their potential, especially the Nets 👇

  • Knicks: 5-5, 8th in the East

  • Nets: 4-7, 11th in the East

The greatest development for the Knicks this season has to be the play of newcomer Jalen Brunson. He's averaging career-highs across the board, and has elevated the Knicks' offense from 21st in the league last season to 15th this year. Here's how his career-best numbers look after his first few games with New York

  • 19.7 PPG

  • 4 RPG

  • 7.3 APG

Despite Brunson's reliability, the best player in tomorrow's contest is, of course, Kevin Durant. At age-34, KD is averaging 31.5 PPG (2nd-best of his career) on ridiculously high efficiency (52/33/95 shooting splits), and just yesterday won the Eastern Conference Player of the Week 🏹

So far, he's helped the Nets score at an above average clip, despite having little help from his infrequently available co-stars...but the Nets have struggled to defend. As of now, they rank in the bottom third of the league in defensive efficiency 📉

Knicks @ Nets Betting Preview (subject to change)

  • Moneyline: Nets -140 (bet $140, win $100), Knicks +120 (bet $100, win $120)

  • O/U: N/A

Trivia question: When was the last time a team from New York got at least as far as the Conference Finals?

For My Parlay Gurus

The Knicks vs. Nets isn't the only intra-city matchup going down tomorrow. In LA, the reeling Lakers head to what is usually their home arena for a "road" game against the Clippers. Although the Lakers have 17 more championships than the Clippers, the Clippers hold a 29-7 advantage over the Lakers during the last 10 seasons, including eight straight wins 📈

Expect the much deeper Clippers to extend that streak to nine tomorrow night, while Kevin Durant's scoring rampage continues 👇

  • Nets -2.5 vs. Knicks: -110

  • Clippers -6 vs. Lakers: -110

Trivia Answer: Although the Nets made the NBA Finals in 2002 and 2003, they were still in New Jersey at the time. The Knicks last made the Eastern Conference Finals in 2000, where they lost to the Pacers
