TNT Double Header

Get ready for a jam-packed night of basketball — TNT has lined up a double-header of primetime matchups, featuring some of the top contenders coming for the Western Conference crown. We hope to kick the night off with a battle of two young phenoms in Luka Doncic and Zion Williamson, but Zion's status is questionable following a scary fall on Sunday 😬

  • The Pelicans will clearly be hoping for Zion's availability, especially given the fact that Brandon Ingram is in concussion protocol

  • They'll have their work cut out for them vs. a Dallas team coming off of a dominant rout of the Grizzlies 😤

At 10PM EST, we get to watch the defending champs tee off vs. a Phoenix squad which looks to be regaining its momentum following last season's embarrassing postseason flameout. As usual, the sky is the limit for the Warriors offense, which dropped an astonishing 89 points (!) in the first half of Sunday's win vs Sacramento. The Suns will be looking to make an early season statement vs. the class of the West 👑

  • Spread: Mavs -4

  • Moneyline: Mavs -178 (bet $178, win $100), Pelicans +150 (bet $100, win $150)

  • Over/Under: 225.5

  • Spread: Suns -3

  • Moneyline: Suns -142, Warriors +120

  • Over/Under: 225

Two Young Stars

The pivotal question for New Orleans will of course be Zion's status, as the young superstar has appeared to regain his physical dominance. The duo of Williamson and Brandon Ingram has the potential to be among the league's elite, as their skill sets mesh together perfectly. They will miss Ingram in this one, who has become a knockdown marksman with the length to shoot over anyone 💦

  • When healthy, Zion is a truly generational athlete — a bowling ball of power and speed barreling toward the rim and mowing down anything in its path

  • The spacing afforded by the Pelicans' collection of sharpshooters makes the game too easy for him 💪

Zion's counterpart in this matchup has a markedly different play style — Luka uses his supernatural court vision, footwork and shot-making ability to render his lack of athleticism inconsequential. It's unnerving to see a player work his way through a defense so slowly and methodically, while no one has a chance of stopping him 🔥

  • The Mavs blew a big lead in their season opener vs. Phoenix, but avenged the loss with a decisive blowout victory vs. another Western contender in Memphis

The addition of Christian Wood has given Dallas the versatile big man with perimeter skills who they thought they were getting in Kristaps Porzingis. The pair is already thriving and racking up highlights 🎥

Can The Suns Stop GS?

To say that Phoenix entered this season on a rocky note would be an understatement — their 33-point Game 7 loss to Dallas was among the worst in modern playoff history. Chris Paul isn't getting any younger at age 37, and it appears that the Suns may have squandered their best shot at a title with this core. However, Phoenix still employs a superstar entering his prime in Devin Booker, who's not ready to relinquish the Suns' contender status ⭐️

  • Booker looks ready to enter full-on MVP contention, as Paul transitions to more of a complementary role

  • He walked into LA and flat-out dominated the Clippers, showing some signature swagger in the process 😤

Meanwhile, the Warriors experienced some infamous and unforeseen drama prior to the season's start, but have looked every bit like last season's juggernaut thus far. Golden State boasts an embarrassment of riches, from promising young pieces like Jordan Poole, and James Wiseman to their veteran trio of stars. Owner Joe Lacob certainly seems willing to break the bank to keep this core together, as the Dubs are set to have the first $200M payroll ever next season 🤑

It's not hard to see why Lacob is handing out lucrative extensions, as this team has a chance to reach rarified air. Another title would place them in undisputed dynasty status, and continue to bolster Steph Curry's rank among the greatest to ever play. The reigning Finals MVP hasn't missed a beat in this young campaign 💦

Trivia question: Steph Curry is already leading the league in three-pointers made this season (shocker!) — how many years has he done so?

For My Parlay Gurus

Given the Pelicans' injury woes and the way the Mavs' offense is rolling, I like Dallas in the first round of this double header, as the Pelicans' bigs will struggle to contain the Luka-Christian Wood pick-and-roll. Out in Phoenix, I think Booker dominates in an early season statement win vs. a Warriors squad on relative cruise control. Take a look 👇

  • Mavericks -4 @ Pelicans: -112

  • Suns -3 vs. Warriors: -108

$100 on this bet would win you $265 — if we hit, make sure you email [email protected] for a chance to win up to $100*. Many will enter, only some will win 😉
