Superstar Scandal
The news of Fernando Tatis Jr. testing positive for a performance-enhancing drug still has the baseball world shook 💉
Tatis Jr.'s season ended last Friday, as it was confirmed he would be suspended 80 games
The timing couldn't be any worse, as Tatis was about to return from a wrist injury to join the Padres' stacked lineup of Manny Machado and Juan Soto
San Diego's championship hopes have now diminished, and their World Series odds have fluctuated over the last few weeks 👇
The Padres' World Series odds have been on a rollercoaster ride...
⭐️ At the All-Star Break: +2500
🔁 After the Juan Soto trade: +1000
💉 After the Tatis Jr. suspension: +1800(odds via @BetMGM)

What does this situation mean for Tatis? As one of the faces of Major League Baseball, his resume will forever be tainted, and he'll have to answer questions about this for the rest of his career 👎
Tatis issued a statement, where he revealed that he inadvertently took a medication containing Clostebol (a steroid on the MLB's banned list since 2003) to treat ringworm
Tatis' mom defended her son by posting a picture of the infection on IG
Would this change anyones mind? Tatis mom posted on IG the “ringworm”mark. You can see the medication in the background. 🤔 #padres#ringworm@BenAndWoods

I'm sure opposing pitchers are happy they won't have to face the Padres' star-studded lineup with Tatis in the mix, but whether you believe him or not, the show must go on. The MLB's top teams are in action tonight, including both squads from New York. Let's dive in ⚾️
Trivia Question: Fernando Tatis Jr. is the third player in the expansion era (since 1961) to finish top-3 in MVP voting and then miss the entire following season. Can you name the other two? (answer below)

New York State Of Mind
The Yankees and Mets have had two totally different starts to the second half of the season. Let's begin with the Yanks, shall we 🗽
Aaron Judge: "We're in first place. That's where we want to be. But you never want to peak too early."

The Yankees will host the Rays for another crucial 3-game series. Luckily, New York has fared well against Tampa this season, going 7-3, and Gerrit Cole will kick things off tonight 🙌
Cole's 3.38 ERA might not be as low as he would like, but he does have 178 strikeouts this year (2nd-most in MLB)
*Rays vs. Yankees lines are still unavailable as of August 15, 2022 at 8:30am EST
Across the way in Queens, the Mets have shined since the All-Star Break, losing just five games. They've given themselves some breathing room in the NL East, widening the gap to 5.5 games 😮💨
The Mets can credit most of their success to their incredible pitching staff, who rank in the top-5 in ERA, strikeouts, opponent batting average and WHIP
One of those stars will take the mound against the Braves tonight, and that's Carlos Carrasco (13-4 record) 🔥
Among 37 pitchers with a min. 40 IP since July 1, the Mets have two pitchers in the top 5 of lowest ERAs in that span:
Max Scherzer: 2nd (1.37)
Carlos Carrasco: 5th (1.69)@Metsmerized#Mets#LGM

The Mets went 4-1 in their previous series against Atlanta this month, so I expect them to carry that momentum into this one 🤘

For My Parlay Gurus
Although the Yankees have been trending in the wrong direction as of late, I think they'll get back on track at home against a fellow AL East opponent. Since NYY's lines are still unavailable, I'm going with another team in their league for tonight's parlay. With Jose Urquidy (11-4 record) on the mound for the Astros, I think they'll handle business vs. the White Sox, while the Mets will do the same on the road in Atlanta. Check it out 👇
Astros ML vs. White Sox: -124
Mets ML vs. Braves: +128
