The Shooting G.O.A.T.

This Saturday in Philadelphia, Stephen Curry will have a chance to break the all-time record for made 3-pointers, with his dad in attendance, while playing against his little brother. Can you script it any better? Right now, he only needs 10 threes to pass Ray Allen for the top spot 💧

  1. Ray Allen: 2,973

  2. Stephen Curry: 2,964

  3. Reggie Miller: 2,560

Even if he can’t seal the deal tomorrow night, he’ll obviously do so in the next few games, and likely extend the record to a potential untouchable number

Trivia question: Where does Dell Curry rank on the all-time made 3-pointers list? (answer below)

Double-Digit Triples Club

Although 10 threes in a single game is no small feat, it’s one thing Steph has done a number of times throughout his career. In fact, he’s already done it in 22 games, including seven times last season. No one else even comes close…

  • Steph Curry: 22

  • Klay Thompson: 5

  • James Harden: 3

  • Damian Lillard: 3

  • JR Smith: 3

While he’s yet to do it this year, he’s drilled nine threes four times already, with the most recent occurrence coming in his game on November 18th

Although Steph’s flair for the dramatic and all-time talent could give him a chance to break the record on Saturday, it would take a miracle for him to do it tomorrow night

  • He’s only made 10+ 3s in 2.8% of his 786 career games played

  • The fact that I said “only” is insane

Steph’s Prop History

On most nights, Steph’s total for made 3-pointers is set at around 5.5 or 6. Here’s how he’s fared against the odds in his past few games

  • 12/8 @ Portland — Line 6.5, hit 6/17

  • 12/6 vs. Orlando — Line 5.5, hit 7/13

  • 12/4 vs. San Antonio — Line 5.5, hit 5/17

  • 12/3 vs. Phoenix — Line 5.5, hit 6/11

Steph is currently shooting .41% from range this year, and could get up around 20 threes if he’s feeling it — something he’s done once this season and six total times in his career

  • He took 17 last game, and is averaging 13.3 long range attempts per contest this season

  • 13.3 would be his career-high in attempts (averaging 8.7 in 13 seasons), and the all-time record over a full season

For My Parlay Gurus (But Not)

Vegas doesn’t release player prop lines this far in advance, so unfortunately we don’t have any Curry-related parlays for you. However, this season Steph’s made 3-pointers prop has been somewhere between 5-7, so regardless of the exact line, 10 made threes would be definitely be a big plus-odds bet 🤑

We’ll make sure to follow up Monday on Curry’s line from Saturday and how he did. Don’t put it past him to hit 10+ for the record 😉

Trivia answer: Dell Curry is 69th in all-time made threes with 1,245. He’s sandwiched between Derek Fisher, Hedo Türkoğlu, Buddy Hield and Jason Williams
