🏒 Oilers Fighting To Stay Alive

The Stanley Cup Final heads back to Florida for Game 5 tonight, with the Panthers just a win away from their first ever title. But few things can swing momentum quite like a seven-goal victory - can the Oilers build off it and extend their season another game? 🍿 (2 min read)

Stanley Cup Final Game 5

Haven’t been keeping up with the Stanley Cup Final so far? Don’t worry, if you watched the first four games of the NBA Finals instead, you’re essentially all caught up…the two series can be pretty much summed up with the Spider-Man pointing meme. Cherry on top if Florida routs Edmonton like Boston did to Dallas last night ☘️

The Florida Panthers are the NHL’s equivalent of the Boston Celtics, hopping out to a convincing 3-0 series lead with a pretty impressive +7 goal differential along the way 💪

  • But just as the Dallas Mavericks kept their season alive with a 38-point beatdown in Game 4 on their home floor, the Edmonton Oilers had a response of their own. And that aforementioned goal differential was erased in one game with a dominant 8-1 victory

Just four NHL teams have ever come back from a 3-0 series deficit in the playoffs, and only once has it happened in the Stanley Cup Final (all the way back in 1942) ⏱️

  • The Oilers are currently +700 to join historic company…and it’s hard to count out any team with Connor McDavid. Regardless of what happens next, his playoff performance has already been one for the history books ⬇️

But three straight wins on the world’s biggest stage, including two on the road in Florida, will be easier said than done…especially with Sergei Bobrovsky in net for the Panthers. While Saturday’s performance was one to forget for him, he had been historically good this postseason up until then 😤

He’s no longer the slam dunk pick that he was heading into Game 4, but the goalie is still the odds-on favorite (-110) to bring home the Conn Smythe Trophy that’s given to the MVP of the Stanley Cup playoffs 🏆

  • Aleksander Barkov isn’t too far behind at +125, and the Florida captain would certainly be a willing recipient as well. The Panthers’ playoff leader in points (21), he may not stuff the stat sheet quite as much as Edmonton’s two superstars, McDavid (38 points) and Leon Draisaitl (30). But he’s an elite player on both ends of the ice…just ask the GOAT himself ⬇️

Bobrovsky and Barkov have been exceptional, but what makes Florida especially dangerous is their depth, with nine players reaching double-digit points this postseason. There’s a reason why this team is just a win away from the first Stanley Cup in franchise history — can they get it done in front of a home crowd tonight? Check out how the lines are shaping up for Game 5 👇

  • Spread: Panthers -1.5 (+198)

  • Moneyline: Panthers -132, Oilers +110

  • Over/Under: 5.5 Total Goals

For My Parlay Gurus

Apologies to any Canadians reading this, but I think it’ll be yet another year (31 straight, to be exact) that an American team brings home the Stanley Cup. Give me the Panthers tonight in a game with a few less goals than Saturday’s scoring barrage — check out this parlay 👇

  • Panthers ML vs Oilers: -132

  • Under 5.5 Total Goals: -115
