All Six Teams In Thanksgiving Action Are Coming Off A Loss

Buckle up! It's Thanksgiving Football and we have six teams in action today, all looking to bounce back from losses last week 🦃 (4 minute read)

Happy Thanksgiving! Alvin Kamara has been ruled out, and with Mark Ingram questionable, look to pick up Tony Jones Jr. for a last minute fantasy play šŸ“‹

Thanksgiving Football Preview

Few things in life go better together than the NFL and Turkey Day. Six teams will be in action, which sounds like the perfect excuse to load up your plate, find a nice spot on the couch, and stay there the entire day. Here’s a look at today’s slatešŸ‘‡

  • 12:30pm EST: (3-7) Chicago Bears @ (0-9-1) Detroit Lions

  • 4:30pm EST: (5-5) Las Vegas Raiders @ (7-3) Dallas Cowboys

  • 8:20pm EST: (6-4) Buffalo Bills @ (5-5) New Orleans Saints

One thing each these teams have in common? They all are looking for a win after suffering defeats last week

Bears @ Lions

  • Spread: Bears -3

  • Moneyline: Lions +130 (bet $100, win $130), Bears -150

  • Over/Under: 41.5

Admittedly, the first game of the day isn’t exactly a clash of titans. For both the Bears and the Lions, this season hasn’t gone according to plan

  • Matt Nagy’s hot seat is only getting hotter. The Bears’ head coach is now the runaway favorite to be the next one fired (+160)

  • It’s no secret how Chicago fans feel - ā€œFire Nagyā€ chants filled the arena at the Bulls game on Monday - and now the coach has reportedly lost the locker room

Speaking of the Lions, the city of Detroit has hosted a Thanksgiving game in every eligible season since 1934

  • Their all-time record on Thanksgiving Day is 37-42-2

  • After winning four Turkey Day matchups in a row from 2013-2016, they’ve dropped each of their last four, most recently a 41-25 loss to the Texans

This will be the second matchup of the season for these teams— the Bears won the first in Chicago, 24-14. With question marks at quarterback on both sides, and little to play for besides pride, the smart value pick here might be the under ā¬‡ļø

Raiders @ Cowboys

  • Spread: Cowboys -7.5

  • Moneyline: Raiders +260 (bet $100, win $260), Cowboys -335

  • Over/Under: 51.5

The lone division leader in action today, the Cowboys are another Thanksgiving staple. Dallas has hosted a game today in every season except two since 1966

  • The Cowboys are 31-21-1 all-time on Thanksgiving, most recently losing to Washington, 41-16

  • Dallas has gone Jekyll and Hyde over the past three weeks, with a 43-3 romp over the Falcons in between a 30-16 loss to the Broncos and a 19-9 loss to the Chiefs

  • Dak Prescott put up his worst performance of the season last week in Kansas City, finishing with 216 yards, a pair of INTs and a QBR of 10. He was also sacked five times

Fortunately, Dak and company have a good opportunity to right the ship against the spiraling Raiders

  • After starting the season 5-2, Las Vegas has dropped three straight as headlines have steered towards off the field issues

  • During the losing streak, the Raiders have managed just 14.3 points per game. Derek Carr is averaging just 257.3 passing yards over that span after putting up 324.1 yards per game over the first seven weeks

The Cowboys will be short-handed on offense with Amari Cooper and Ceedee Lamb questionable, but they still have more than enough playmakers to hand the Raiders a fourth straight loss

Trivia question: Who started at QB for the Cowboys the last time they lost to the Raiders at home? Hint: he WAS a coach this year (answer below)

Bills @ Saints

  • Spread: Bills -6

  • Moneyline: Saints +200 (bet $100, win $200), Bills -250

  • Over/Under: 45.5

Last but not least we have the night cap, featuring a pair of teams looking to get back on track with their preseason expectations

  • The Bills were the odds-on favorite to win the Super Bowl for a good portion of the season, and they were co-favorites with the Buccaneers as recently as last week

  • They now check in with the fourth-best odds (+800) after getting run over by the Colts/Jonathan Taylor last Sunday

The Saints, meanwhile, have had their season derailed by an injury to Jameis Winston

  • Replacement starter Trevor Siemian hasn’t played terribly, but after beginning the season 5-2, New Orleans has dropped all three games in which he’s started

  • This team’s greatest strength is their run defense, but last week in Philly they gave up 242 yards and three scores on the ground

  • Star running back Alvin Kamara is out for the third straight game with a knee injury

Both these teams have been trending in the wrong direction recently, but there’s a reason why the Bills are still on the short list of Super Bowl contenders. They have the talent to bounce back and take care of business tonight

For My Parlay Gurus

Some of my favorite Thanksgiving traditions include touch football in the yard, late night pecan pie, and three-leg parlays. Here’s what I’m riding with todayšŸ‘‡

  • DET/CHI under 41.5: -110

  • Cowboys -7.5: -105

  • Bills -6: -110

Hitting this would get you $611 on a $100 wager. Snag these Christmas Kobe 10s if it hits and first to email [email protected] gets $100 šŸ¤‘

Trivia answer: The Dallas QB the last time the Raiders won in Dallas was none other than Jason Garrett. He completed just 18 of 33 passes with no TDs and 2 INTs in the 13-12 defeat
