Six Teams With The Best Odds To Land Aaron Rodgers

For the second straight offseason, Aaron Rodgers is the main event. Teams continue to make their best pitch for the four-time MVP...will he remain a Packer or look elsewhere? šŸ‘‘ (4 min read)

Landing Aaron Rodgers

Last offseason, Aaron Rodgers had the entire NFL waiting on a decision — remain with the Packers or leave to start a new journey (Ć  la Tom Brady). Fast forward one year and we’re having a feeling of dĆ©jĆ  vu, as Rodgers’ decision on which uniform he’ll wear in 2022-23 is the main topic of discussion

Landing someone as legendary as Rodgers changes your entire franchise, so it’s understandable that this is currently the biggest storyline in football. However, it does come with a lot of pressure. Similar to Brady, when Rodgers is your starting QB, your season is championship or bust. The Bucs fell short of expectations this season, and Tom retired (for now)

With all that, let’s take a look at the teams who have the best odds to snag the reigning NFL MVP šŸ‘‡

  • Green Bay Packers: -225 (bet $225, win $100)

  • Denver Broncos: +250 (bet $100, win $250)

  • San Francisco 49ers: +700

  • Indianapolis Colts: +800

  • Pittsburgh Steelers: +1000

  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers: +1000

Trivia question: Aaron Rodgers has won back-to-back MVPs — can you name the last player to do so and the years he did it? (answer below)

Packer For Life?

When the Packers’ season ended with an embarrassing home playoff loss to the 49ers, most people speculated that Rodgers’ time in Green Bay had come to an end. Rodgers insisted that everything was on the table regarding his football future

  • Just days ago, he released a cryptic Instagram post expressing gratitude towards several Packers teammates, including Randall Cobb and Jordan Love

Just R-E-L-A-X Packer fans, the green-and-yellow have made some decisions that will most likely keep Rodgers in town

  • Green Bay announced the hiring of Tom Clements as the team’s quarterbacks coach. Clements held that same position from 2006-2011 and Rodgers credits his early development in the NFL to Coach Clements

  • In addition, the Packers are planning to restructure Rodgers’ current contract. Although he denied reports of wanting to be the highest-paid player in the NFL, which is currently Patrick Mahomes (10-yr, $450M), the Packers can get his contract close to $30M per year

If we see Rodgers return to Green Bay, you can almost guarantee Davante Adams and other key players will follow. The Packers seem to be in great shape to have Rodgers at the helm for 2022-23 šŸ§€

The Broncos’ Pitch

The Broncos have been the team with the most conversation around making a move for Rodgers. Unfortunately, there’s no recent success that the Broncos can use to entice Aaron, as their last playoff appearance was in 2015-16 when they won the Super Bowl with Peyton Manning. However, there are plenty of other intriguing factors šŸ”

  • Denver has a handful of young, skillful position players, including receivers Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton, tight end Noah Fant, and running back Javonte Williams

  • Their defense was exceptional last season, ranking in the top-10 in points allowed (18.9 PPG, 2nd) and yards allowed (326.1 Y/G, 8th)

  • The Broncos hired former Packers OC Nathaniel Hackett to be their new head coach. Back in November 2020, Rodgers hinted that he would like to continue to play under Hackett, wherever he landed as a HC šŸ˜

The possibility of the Broncos getting Rodgers is clearly factored into Denver’s 2023 Super Bowl odds. They currently have the 8th-best odds at +1800 and went 7-10 last season…so if you think Rodgers is done in Green Bay, Denver to win SB 57 is an interesting bet 🧐

For My Parlay Gurus

If this Aaron Rodgers saga is anything like last offseason, we’re in for a long, dramatic wait. My bet would be on the Packers (-225), as I believe the hiring of Coach Clements and the restructuring of Rodgers’ contract will influence his decision

In the meantime, we’re in the middle of a post All-Star break NBA push, so I can’t skip the parlay. I’m taking both the Raptors and Bulls on the road against some strong Eastern Conference squads šŸ‘‡

  • Raptors -3 @ Nets: -110

  • Bulls +3 @ Heat: -110

$100 on this bet would win $264 — if we hit, make sure to email [email protected] for $100*. First come, first serve šŸ˜‰

Trivia answer: Peyton Manning won back-to-back MVPs in 2008 & 2009, and also in 2003 & 2004. But in 2003 Manning actually tied with Steve McNair, something that has only happened twice in NFL history
