Around The World Of Fútbol

While you were focused on the NBA and NHL Playoffs, a whole lot of soccer was being played. Don't worry though, I'm here to catch you up. Check out the top storylines from the last few days 👇

  • Ukraine beat Scotland, 3-1, on June 1st to advance to the World Cup Playoff Final. The entire team was emotional before the game, and if you haven't seen this video yet, you'll know what I mean

  • However, their dream of advancing to the World Cup ended on Sunday, as they lost to Wales, 1-0 (on an own goal from a Gareth Bale free kick 😐). This is the first World Cup Wales has qualified for in 64 years

  • In the club world, big names such as Erling Haaland, Philippe Coutinho and Antonio Rüdiger are all on the move. Check out the recent transfers here

Besides World Cup Qualifying, the UEFA Nations League has begun, a competition that launched in 2018 to replace International friendlies that filled the gap between more important tournaments (see full format here) 🏆

  • The reigning Nations League Champion France was in action on Monday, going up against Croatia in a highly-anticipated 2018 World Cup Finals rematch. The match ended in a 1-1 draw after Croatia's Andrej Kramaric's penalty shot in the 83rd minute, his fifth goal in Croatia's last seven games

  • Kylian Mbappé did not play in this match, as he's still recovering from a knee injury suffered on June 3rd vs. Denmark

The UEFA Nations League is starting to heat up, and today's biggest matchup features two powerhouses in Germany and England 🙌

Trivia Question: Germany is one of the most successful national teams, winning four World Cup titles, which is tied for the second-most ever. Can you name the country with the most World Cup titles? (answer below)

Germany vs. England Preview

Both Germany and England are looking for their first UEFA Nations League win, as they renew their long-standing rivalry in Munich today at 2:45PM EST. The two European heavyweights have a seriously close all-time record against each other 🤝

  • This rivalry actually dates all the way back to 1899, with England beating Germany in their first four matchups

  • If anyone is looking for revenge, it's Germany, as they were outed by England in the 2020 European Championship's Round of 16. Vegas likes them this time around, as the lines slightly favor Germany at "home"

Germany vs. England Betting Preview (subject to change)

  • Moneyline: Germany +123 (bet $100, win $123), England +235, Draw +225

  • O/U: 2.5 Total Goals

This match looks like it might come down to personnel, and as many as five players from the German club Borussia Dortmund are hoping to be available today 📋

  • Nico Schlotterbeck, Karim Adeyemi and Julian Brandt are looking to make an appearance for Germany in this match, after missing Saturday's 1-1 draw vs. Italy

  • Germany's Marco Reus, who's missed time due to illness, is back training with the team, but his status today is still unknown

  • As for England's squad, young star Phil Foden remains out of today's match after testing positive for COVID, but his Man City teammate Raheem Sterling should be available

Since Hansi Flick took over for Joachim Low as Germany's manager, they haven't lost a match (eight wins and two draws). If Germany's elite duo of Timo Werner and Ilkay Gundogan can provide a high level of production, England might lose their second Nations League match in a row 🥶

For My Parlay Gurus

With England coming off their first loss in 23 matches (excluding penalty shootouts) on Saturday, I don't want to put my money on them bouncing back almost 800 miles away from home. I like Germany to win, and I'm throwing in an Italy squad that has failed to qualify for back-to-back World Cups vs. a less-talented Hungary team. Check it out 👇

  • Germany ML vs. England: +123

  • Italy ML vs. Hungary: -205

$100 on this bet would win you $232 — if we hit, make sure you email [email protected] for a chance to win up to $100*. Many will enter, only some will win 😉
