Big Night For The Pac-12 🏈

Washington and Oregon, what do they have in common? In the eight years of the CFP, they are the only two teams to represent the Pac-12. USC is still alive, but will need to beat their rival in UCLA tomorrow night. Big Pac-12 weekend, let's break it down 🚨 (3 min read)

Big Pac-12 Weekend

In the eight years of the College Football playoffs, a Pac-12 team has only made two playoff appearances - 12-1 Oregon back in 2014 and 12-1 Washington in 2016. However, it's not like other Power-5 conferences have been consistent staples. Take a look at the breakdown πŸ‘‡

  • SEC: Alabama (7), Georgia (2) and LSU (1)

  • Big Ten: Ohio State (4), Michigan (1), Michigan State (1)

  • ACC: Clemson (6), Florida State (1)

  • Pac-12: Oregon (1), Washington (1)

  • Big-12: Oklahoma (4)

  • Other: Notre Dame (2), Cincinnati (1)

With just three weeks of football left, there's really only seven teams left with a realistic chance of making the playoffs. The Power-5 is almost fully represented, but the ACC is likely the odd man out unless something crazy happens and Clemson sneaks in 😏

With Oregon and UCLA losing last week, USC is now the only one loss Pac-12 team and the sole squad that can make the playoffs. The Top-4 West Coast teams play each other this weekend, so the conference is still very much up for grabs. The odds slightly favor USC, who takes on UCLA tomorrow, but technically five teams are still alive πŸ‘€

  • No. 7 USC: +155, 7-1 conference record

  • No. 10 Utah: +200, 6-2

  • No. 12 Oregon: +200, 6-2

  • No. 16 UCLA: +1600, 5-2

  • No. 17 Washington: +5000, 5-2

Let's take a look at the two biggest games of the weekend. No team has any room for error, so every game is a must-win 😳

Trivia Question: The 2016 Washington team had six offensive skill players play in the NFL. How many can you name?

Saturday Preview

It would be quite the storyline if USC was able to reach the CFP in Lincoln Riley's first season as HC. QB Caleb Williams, who transferred from Oklahoma to follow Riley, has been unstoppable - he has 3,010 passing yards on the season to go along with 31 TDs and only 2 INTs. Fellow transfer Jordan Addison also leads the team in receptions, receiving yards and TDs πŸ”₯

Tomorrow they'll take on UCLA at the Rose Bowl, a matchup that would have been even bigger if the Bruins didn't lose to unranked Arizona last weekend. QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson and RB Zach Charbonnet have been magical all season, and they'll really need to bring it if they want to end USC's playoff hopes. Peep the lines πŸ‘‡

  • Spread: USC -2.5

  • Moneyline: USC -128, UCLA +106

  • Over/Under: 76.5

  • When: 8PM EST on FOX

A USC win locks in a Pac-12 title berth, and they'd face the winner of the other massive conference game, Oregon vs. Utah. The Utes beat the Trojans on a gutsy two-point conversation attempt a few weeks ago (peep the crazy ending), but will need to slow down Bo Nix and an Oregon offense that has only scored less than 40 points twice...both losses πŸ₯Ά

Outside of the Week 1 loss to Florida, Utah has only lost one conference game this season - to UCLA in Week 6

  • These teams have all beaten each other, exactly what you want out of the top teams in a Power-5 conference

  • Cameron Rising is one of the elite college QBs you've never heard of, but can he keep up with Bo? A little more defense is expected in this Pac-12 game, take a look 🏈

  • Spread: Utah -2.5

  • Moneyline: Utah -137, Oregon +114

  • Over/Under: 60.5

  • When: 10:30PM EST on ESPN

I can't remember the last time the Pac-12 had this many relevant teams heading into the closing weeks of the season. Should be a fun night of football 🍿

For My Parlay Gurus

Both these spreads are ridiculously close, showing just how good these games are expected to be. I like USC and Utah to win, which would set up a must-watch Pac-12 rematch in the championship game, with a playoff berth on the line for the Trojans. They say Pac-12 overs are a thing too, but I can't justify touching 76.5 or even 60.5. Here's what I'm going with πŸ‘‡

  • USC -2.5 @ UCLA: -110

  • Utah -2.5 @ Oregon: -115
