The Newcomer

Seemingly out of nowhere, Oklahoma’s true freshman QB Caleb Williams has emerged as one of the top Heisman contenders. After starting the season as Spencer Rattler’s backup, Williams stepped into the QB1 role two weeks ago, down 24 points to the Texas Longhorns, and lead the Sooners to a 55-48 comeback win

This past Saturday, Sooner fans didn’t know which QB would get the starting nod. Check out their reaction when they found it was Williams, who then went off for 295 yards, four touchdowns and 0 INTs vs TCU

Even though Williams has only started one game, he’s risen all the way to the fifth-best Heisman odds in the nation šŸ†

  • Matt Corral (Ole Miss): +175

  • Bryce Young (Alabama): +200

  • CJ Stroud (Ohio State): +800

  • Bijan Robinson (Texas): +900

  • Desmond Ridder (Cincinnati): +1200

  • Caleb Williams (Oklahoma): +1200

Trivia question: Can you name the three non-QB Heisman winners since 2006? (answer below)

Draft Day

Before the season, Oklahoma’s original starter, redshirt sophomore Spencer Rattler, was the favorite to be the first pick in the 2022 NFL Draft at +130. As recently as September 29, he still had the second-best odds to go No. 1 overall

  • Kayvon Thibodeaux, Oregon DE: +150

  • Spencer Rattler, OU QB: +225

  • Sam Howell, UNC QB: +500

  • Matt Corral, Ole Miss QB: +600

  • Carson Strong, Nevada QB: +600

Now that Rattler has lost his starting job, people are speculating whether he’ll enter the draft, return to OU or look to the transfer portal. New draft odds have yet to be released, but expect Rattler’s to tumble when they do 😬

Title Talk

Even after the emergence of Oklahoma’s rookie stud, OU is still a distant fourth in odds to win the National Championship, despite their 7-0 start

  • No. 1 Georgia: +115

  • No. 4 Alabama: +250

  • No. 5 Ohio State: +700

  • No. 3 Oklahoma: +1600

  • No. 2 Cincinnati: +3000

  • No. 6 Michigan: +5000

Coincidentally, the No. 1 ranked Bulldogs are the only team on this list to not have a player in Heisman contention, showing how balanced of a Georgia team Kirby Smart has at his disposal
