Wednesday Night Playoff Action

Don’t get me wrong, there’s no doubt Cancun is beautiful this time of year, but something tells me the Bulls and Nuggets don’t want to be buying flights down there just yet 🏝

Both teams have their backs against the wall, facing 3-1 series deficits and really steep lines with their seasons hanging on by a thread. Here's a look at the potential elimination games going down in Milwaukee and San Francisco tonight 👇

Bulls vs. Bucks Preview

Those who were worried about the Bucks after a tough Game 2 loss and the series-ending injury to Khris Middleton must’ve forgotten, the defending champs have a human cheat code called the Greek Freak 🇬🇷

  • While he wasn’t relied on too heavily in Game 3’s 30-point victory, Giannis reminded everyone of his dominance in Game 4 with a 32-17-7-2 line as Milwaukee cruised past Chicago, 119-95

  • The back-to-back blowout wins on the road can’t be attributed entirely to Giannis; love him or hate him, Grayson Allen was red-hot in Chicago, averaging 24.5 PPG while drilling 11 of 13 threes. He's outscored both DeRozan and LaVine in both games 🔥

Not offense to the Bulls, who had a heck of a year, but when Grayson Allen is running you off your home court in the playoffs, it may be a sign your season is almost out of steam 📉

  • Chicago has shot less than 40% from the field, and less than 27% from three in each of their three losses this series, averaging just 87.3 points in those games

  • If holding off the Bucks wasn’t already difficult enough, tonight they’ll likely have to do so without their second-leading scorer. Zach LaVine is expected to miss the game due to health and safety protocols

It’ll have to be a next man up mentality tonight if LaVine is out, but unfortunately for the Bulls, reinforcements haven’t looked especially promising 😬

Trivia question: The Bucks are attempting to become the fourth team in the last 20 years to repeat as NBA champions. Can you name the other three? (answer below)

Nuggets vs. Warriors Preview

Credit this Nuggets team for refusing to go down without a fight, besting the Warriors on Sunday night to avoid the series sweep. But even in the tightly-contested loss, Golden State still looked like a force to be reckoned with 💪

  • Denver needed a second-straight 37-point performance from MVP frontrunner Nikola Jokic, and some late-game heroics to fend off Golden State, 126-121

  • Jokic’s otherworldly play has unsurprisingly carried over into the postseason, where the big man is averaging an absurd 31.3/11.8/5.2 line, and doing so efficiently. He leads the team in each of those stats

  • Unfortunately, that says just as much about the performance of Jokic’s supporting cast. The Serb is more than doubling the output of Denver’s second-leading scorer, Monte Morris (14 PPG), who happens to be the only other Nugget to reach double figures in each game 😬

Meanwhile, the Warriors have unleashed a three-headed monster that has looked nearly unstoppable at times, and I think the Splash Brothers have officially become triplets 💦

  • A Most Improved Player snub and a quiet Sunday night aside, the Jordan Poole coming out party is in full swing. My guy was grinding in the G League at the start of last season, and now he’s putting up 24.3 PPG on nearly 60% from the field in his first playoff series 😤

  • The old heads haven’t been too shabby either — after opening the series on a minutes restriction, Steph Curry has led the Warriors in scoring in each of the last three games, while Klay Thompson needed just four dribbles to drop 32 last game 🤯

  • Together, the three sharpshooters are in position to become the only guard trio in the last 50 years to each average 20+ PPG in a playoff series

Simply put, the Joker needs more help if the Nuggets are going to compete with that level of production. But, friendly reminder that two years ago Denver became only team in league history to overcome back-to-back 3-1 playoff deficits. Just saying 🤷🏻‍♂️

For My Parlay Gurus

There's a reason the Warriors are now the favorite (+260) to bring home another NBA title, but I'm trusting in the Joker magic enough that the Nuggets at least keep it competitive tonight. In Milwaukee, I'm banking on Giannis continuing to feast on the boards (he's had 16+ rbs in three games this series). Check it out 👇

  • Nuggets +9 @ Warriors: -110

  • Giannis Antetokounmpo over 13.5 rebounds: +100

$100 on this bet would win you $282 — if we hit, make sure you email [email protected] for a chance to win up to $100*. Many will enter, only some will win 😉

Trivia answer: The Bucks could potentially join the '09-'10 Lakers, the '12-'13 Heat, and the '16-'17 Warriors as back-to-back champs
