AFC North Showdown

Tonight, Joe Burrow and Bengals travel to the Dawg Pound to take on the struggling Browns. The Bengals started their season on a rocky note, but have come together as a unit to win their last two games and finally get above .500. Now, they'll have to overcome more adversity with star WR Ja'Marr Chase out due to a hip injury 👀

  • Chase was able to avoid being placed on the IR, meaning that he's week-to-week for Cincinnati and won't have to miss four games

  • Fortunately for Burrow, he still possesses a talented group of receivers to target in Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd 💪

On the other side of things, the Browns have been no stranger to adversity themselves. They acquired star QB Deshaun Watson with full knowledge that he would likely face a significant suspension due to his many sexual assault allegations, but failed to bring in a quality backup to man the offense. So far, the results with Jacoby Brissett under center have been far from promising 😬

Trending In Different Directions

The Bengals' offense has finally started to resemble the juggernaut that launched them past other AFC contenders last postseason, which makes the Chase injury even more potentially devastating. Joe Burrow is coming off of one of the finest games of his career vs. Atlanta, in which he compiled over 500 total yards. Chase knew that his QB was feeling it 😂

When Zac Taylor takes the lid off the offense and lets Burrow sling it to his trio WRs, there's no more dangerous passing attack in the league. Chase is, of course, the focal point of this receiving core, but Tee Higgins could be a number one receiver on many NFL teams. The main concern with Cincinnati's offense is always the spotty offensive line play, which the team tried to address this offseason 👇

  • Their newly constructed line came out the gates looking even worse than last year's disastrous unit, allowing 13 sacks in the first two games

  • However, they've started to gel, allowing only 11 sacks in the five games since. Burrow is making use of this improved protection and dropping dimes downfield 🎯

Cleveland's arc throughout this young season has in many ways been the reverse of Cincinnati's. The Browns opened the season looking like a complete squad that could weather Watson's absence and remain competitive. However, they've now followed up a 2-1 start with four straight losses, and will have to fight just to stay in playoff contention by the time Watson returns in Week 13 📉

  • Hopes were high for a Browns defense that finished fifth overall in 2021, but they've failed to repeat that success so far

  • On the offensive end, RB Nick Chubb is enjoying another stellar season, and carrying a lackluster overall unit. Despite the team's overall struggles, Chubb's dominance this year has been remarkable 👇

Trivia question: Ja'Marr Chase broke the NFL rookie record for receiving yards last season — who held the title before him?

For My Parlay Gurus

I like the Bengals to take this one on the road without too much trouble. Their offense is rolling, and Cleveland's defense has been surprisingly poor — they're currently tied for 28th in points allowed per game. Look for another standout primetime performance from Burrow, with Higgins stepping up to absorb many of Chase's targets 👇

  • Bengals -3.5 vs. Browns: -104

  • Tee Higgins OVER 78.5 Receiving Yards: -118
