NFL QB Carousel π
We're just one week away from the start of NFL free agency, and with Derek Carr joining the Saints, we have the fall of the first big domino. Teams will likely wait to see what happens with Aaron Rodgers and Lamar Jackson before signing any Tier B option. Here's a birds-eye view of the NFL QB situation π (2 min read)

March Madness, the NBA home stretch and MLB Spring Training make up most of the live sports during this time of the year. However, with the 2023 NFL free agency period officially starting on March 15th, let's take a look at teams most likely to make a play on some of the top QBs set to hit the market. The dominoes are starting to fall with yesterday's news of Derek Carr signing with the Saints π±
The #Saints & Derek Carr agreed on a 4-yr deal for $150M with $100M in total guarantees, per me & @MikeGar@MikeGarafolos $70M effectively fully guaranteed ($60M at signing, another $10M in Year 3 vesting after Year 1). Carr structures his deal to accommodate Saintsβ cap issues. https://

Over the last 24 hours, the Saints win total line has moved up a full game. With the Bucs losing Tom Brady, the Falcons moving on from Marcus Mariota and the Panthers still unclear at the position, Derek Carr is definitely the best QB in the division, giving New Orleans at least six very winnable games. Take a look at the line π
Saints 2023 Win Total (subject to change)
Over 9.5 Wins: -122 (bet $122, win $100)
Under 9.5 Wins: +100 (bet $100, win $100)
There's obviously tons of things that can still happen to affect those lines. What if Rodgers joins the Panthers, who have a very solid roster outside of QB? For now though, the Saints at +120 to win the division seems like a nice play π

New Orleans has struggled at QB since Drew Brees retired, relying on a combination of Jameis Winston, Taysom Hill, Andy Dalton and Trevor Siemian. I'm sure Saints fans are pumped to get Carr in the building

Others To Keep An Eye On
Obviously we are not here to report any inside news. One, we don't have any. And two, we'll leave that to Adam Schefter and crew. To start, the AFC is absolutely loaded at QB with Mahomes, Josh Allen, Burrow, Herbert and Trevor Lawrence. Reports say the Ravens will be waiting until today's franchise tag deadline with Lamar Jackson, as negotiations have made little progress in recent days - he might want to look at the aforementioned NFC South if he doesn't get his bag. These are a few of the teams who will certainly look to make moves next week π
New York Jets (Mike White, Zach Wilson)
Tennessee Titans (Ryan Tannehill, Josh Dobbs, Malik Willis)
Las Vegas Raiders (Jarrett Stidham)
Washington Commanders (Sam Howell, Taylor Heinicke)
Tampa Bay Bucs (Blaine Gabbert, Kyle Trask)
A few of the other obvious teams will likely look towards the draft to find their next guy. If you haven't been following the combine, Anthony Richardson is all people are talking about π

As for the top available QBs, some are free agents and others might not get the contract extension they are hoping for. The biggest buyers might have to wait to see what Rodgers decides before making any moves, until then we might be at a little of a standstill. Geno Smith got paid yesterday, but guys like Daniel Jones and Lamar will likely remain with their current teams π
2023 Upcoming QB Free Agents:
- Tom Brady
- Lamar Jackson
- Baker Mayfield
- Jimmy Garoppolo
- Sam Darnold
- Daniel Jones
- Geno Smith
- Jacoby Brissett
- Gardner Minshew
- Teddy Bridgewater
- Joe Flacco
- Andy Dalton
- Mike White
- Taylor Heinicke

Most win o/u lines aren't out yet, but if you have a feeling one of these guys is going to a team in need of a QB, you can always go the division winner route if you're jonesing to get some action down
No parlay tonight, but conference tournaments are kicking off and we'll have some picks for you ahead of March Madness later in the week. Also this shot by Dejounte Murray last night hit Hawks +2.5 π€

Trivia Answer: Marques Colston leads the Saints in all-time receiving yards with 9,759. If all goes well, Michael Thomas will move up from 4th (6,121 yards) in the next few seasons
