French Open Update
The quarterfinals of the 2022 French Open are set to begin today, and one of the players in action is a man who has dominated the clay-court tournament for the better part of the last 20 years 😤
They don’t call Rafael Nadal the King of Clay for nothing; the Spaniard has captured a record 13 French Open titles during his illustrious career, with a 109-3 lifetime record in the tournament
However, despite all of Nadal’s success at Roland Garros, he’s not the favorite to bring home another trophy this year. In fact, oddsmakers prefer his quarterfinal opponent, Novak Djokovic, a man with his own GOAT-worthy resume. He tops the list of some of the contenders left in the field 🏆
Novak Djokovic: +135 (bet $100, win $135)
Carlos Alcaraz: +190
Rafael Nadal: +440
Casper Ruud: +1600
You may be surprised to see Carlos Alcaraz sandwiched between Djokovic and Nadal, but don't be — the 19-year-old phenom has been turning heads recently. He'll also be suiting up in the day's other quarterfinal matchup, just take a look at today's slate 👇
10AM EST: No. 3 Alexander Zverev vs. No. 6 Carlos Alcaraz
2:45PM EST: No. 1 Novak Djokovic vs. No. 5 Rafael Nadal
Trivia Question: Since 2010, who is the only player besides Nadal and Djokovic to win the French Open? (answer below)

Nadal vs. Djokovic Preview
No offense meant to young stars Alcaraz and Zverev — the future of tennis looks to be in great hands. But today's rightful headliner is the showdown between Nadal and Djokovic. Based off Grand Slam titles, the meeting will be the most decorated match in the history of the sport 🏆
With his Australian Open victory back in January, Nadal claimed his record 21st Grand Slam title, breaking a three-way tie atop the all-time leaderboard with Djokovic and Roger Federer, who have 20 apiece
41 combined Grand Slam titles between a pair of opponents is just absurd, and it's crazy to see how far they’ve come over the years. Check out how the lines are shaping up for the latest chapter of the iconic rivalry 👇
Nadal vs. Djokovic Betting Preview (subject to change)
Moneyline: Djokovic -240 (bet $240, win $100), Nadal +195 (bet $100, win $195)
Game Spread: Djokovic -4.5
Over/Under: 37.5 Total Games
Don’t let either player’s overstocked trophy case fool you, both these guys are still in prime form and have eyes on adding even more hardware
After being forced to miss the Australian Open due to his vaccination status, Novak has hardly broken a sweat in his return to Grand Slam action, winning all four of his matches so far in straight sets
Nadal was cruising through the tournament as well until a marathon five-set battle against Felix Auger Aliassime his last time out, but he ultimately claimed his 11th straight Grand Slam victory
With the high level of play we’ve seen out of both recently, today’s 59th meeting between the two, the most ever between two opponents, promises to be a great one 📺
Novak holds a slim 30-28 advantage in the head-to-head series, and he has accounted for two of Nadal’s three career losses at Roland Garros. However, Rafa was victorious in their other seven French Open matchups
It was Djokovic who came out on top the last time the duo faced off in this tournament, with his 2021 semifinal victory that ended Nadal’s 35-match winning streak in Paris
That loss should provide extra motivation for Rafa, and his clay-court advantage is very real. But, I wouldn’t want to go up against the Joker on any surface. Today’s match could truly go either way 🤷🏻♂️

Trivia Answer: Surprisingly, the answer isn't Federer, whose one and only French Open victory came in 2009. It was actually another Swiss player, Stan Wawrinka, who won in 2015, beating Djokovic in the finals
