Monday Night Football Spreads Have Moved Over 10 Total Points

We are blessed with two MNF games tonight, but the spreads keep changing due to Covid reports. Can we trust any teams? 😷 (4 minute read)

C.J. Gardner-Johnson is funny and Brady is now 0-4 vs. New Orleans during the regular season with Tampa 😳 (1-0 in the playoffs though). Let’s talk MNF doubleheader šŸ‘‡

Monday Night Football Preview

I’m not sure if I’ve ever watched football on a Monday at 5pm EST. Sounds really fun šŸ˜‰. For the first time this season, the NFL had to postpone games due to COVID-19. Now, we’ll get an unexpected doubleheader in primetime

  • 5pm EST: Raiders (+3) @ Browns

  • 8:15pm EST: Vikings (-6.5) @ Bears

With the NFL experiencing a pretty significant outbreak over the last few days, it’s difficult to confidently predict a winner in these two games. With the current spread and injury report, we like the Raiders and Vikings. But hey, that might all change by the time you read this šŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™‚ļø

Bad News Browns

As of Friday, over 20 players were placed on the COVID-19 list for the Browns. Not only did QB Baker Mayfield test positive, but also his backup Case Keenum. That leaves Cleveland with their third-string option, Nick Mullens

  • Mullens signed with the 49ers in 2017 as an un-drafted free agent out of Southern Mississippi. He did get starting experience with San Francisco, going 5-11 over 16 games (2018-20)

  • The Browns signed Mullens to their practice squad before this season

While the Raiders should normally feast on this depleted Cleveland roster, they have their own issues to address. Las Vegas is coming off an embarrassing 48-9 loss to the Chiefs, their fifth defeat in six games. A blazing 5-2 start to the season is definitely a thing of the past, as the Raiders’ biggest struggle has been keeping the ball in their possession

  • Over their first seven games, Las Vegas turned the ball over just five times (2nd-fewest in NFL). Since their bye week, they have 12 giveaways in six games

The Browns opened as 6-point favorites, but then became underdogs after news of the outbreak. However, the line has since shifted back in Cleveland’s favor. This tweet sums it all up. After all this craziness, I’m taking the Raiders against the spread and here’s why šŸ‘‡

  1. The Browns are barely able to provide an NFL-caliber lineup

  2. Nick Mullens hasn’t started an NFL game since Dec. 20, 2020, and he’s never started a game for the Browns

  3. The Raiders still have a lethal Derek Carr, who ranks fourth in the NFL in passing yards (3,926)

Vikings On The Bubble

For our second MNF game we have the Vikings and the Bears. Despite a very up-and-down season, Minnesota (6-7) is still in playoff contention. The one thing they can’t do is stumble against the Bears

  • If the Vikings win their next two games (CHI & LAR), their odds to make the playoffs goes up to 68%

  • If they lose tonight vs the Bears, their odds fall to 8%

QB Kirk Cousins’ lack of success on MNF (1-9 record) has been well documented, but he has plenty of weapons to work with

  • RB Dalvin Cook passed Ted Brown for fifth place on the team’s all-time rushing list

  • Trivia question: Dalvin Cook has the 3rd-most rushing yards since 2017. Who are No. 1 & 2? (answer below)

  • WR Justin Jefferson (2,688) needs 68 rec yards for the most in NFL history in a player’s first two seasons in the Super Bowl era

While the Bears have an opportunity to add to Cousins’ Monday night woes, they may not have the personnel to do it. The Bears have also been hit hard by COVID-19, losing 12 players to the protocol list — five of which are starters. That news doesn’t come at a particularly good time, as Chicago has dropped seven of their last eight games

Even with the line ballooned to 6.5 points (it opened at 3.5), I’m still taking the Vikings against the spread and here’s why šŸ‘‡

  1. The Vikings are vying for a playoff spot in essentially a must-win game

  2. The Vikings have seven wins ATS in 13 games this season

  3. Justin Fields has struggled behind a poor offensive line and will likely be without three starters

  4. The Bears’ defense is allowing 25.5 PPG, the 9th-worst mark in the NFL

For My Parlay Gurus

I’ve handed out a lot of parlays, but this might be the riskiest of them ALL. Why? Because I’m not betting on the performance of players, but on the number of players who are healthy. Either way, I’m confident that Derek Carr and Kirk Cousins – who are both 7+ year vets – can lead their teams to victory

  • Raiders +3 @ Browns: -120

  • Vikings -6.5 @ Bears: -110

Putting down $100 on this parlay would result in a $250 payout. If it hits, make sure to email [email protected] for $100*. First come, first serve. Stay safe everyone 😷

Trivia answer: Derrick Henry has the most rushing yards since 2017 with 6,307. Zeke has the 2nd-most at 5,615, with Dalvin next at 4,639 in 17 fewer games
