Michigan vs. Indiana Preview

If you thought the term “March Madness” applied exclusively to the NCAA Tournament, think again. It's conference tourney time for the Power-5, and that means bids are up for grabs and bubbles are being burst day in and day out 😏

We’ve got an absolutely loaded slate of college hoops action all day long today, and speaking of the bubble, two teams squarely on it are set to face off bright and early in the Big Ten Tournament. Take a look at the lines ahead of the potential season-saving matchup between the Indiana Hoosiers and the Michigan Wolverines 👇

  • Spread: Michigan -3

  • Moneyline: Michigan -154 (bet $154, win $100), Indiana +128 (bet $100, win $128)

  • Over/Under: 136

The Hoosiers have some added motivation in this one as well — they’ve lost nine straight games against the Wolverines dating back to 2016 🤯

Big Ten Bubble Watch

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again — momentum is everything in March. And right now, Indiana doesn't have it, while Michigan's season finale might be that coveted spark ⚡️

  • After looking like a solid tournament team for most of the season, the Hoosiers have unraveled over the past month, going 2-7 since the start of February

  • Meanwhile, the Wolverines have been unable to gain any kind of consistency, alternating wins and losses over their last nine matchups. But, they are coming off a huge road win at then No. 23 Ohio State without Juwan Howard and Hunter Dickinson

In the gauntlet that is the Big Ten, some ebbs and flows are to be expected, and both these teams still have the talent to beat just about anyone in the nation. But with only so many at-large spots in the tournament, today’s game borders on must-win territory, especially for Indiana

  • While Michigan currently finds themselves among some of the last teams in the field in bracket projections, the Hoosiers check in as the first team out 😰

  • Based on the first matchup of the season between these two teams, a resume-boosting win won’t come easy for Indiana.  Back in January, Michigan manhandled them on their own floor in a 80-62 victory

The Hoosiers had no answer for the Wolverine's star center Hunter Dickinson, who went for 25 points and 9 boards. He missed Sunday’s big win over Ohio State due to a stomach bug, but assuming he suits up today, I expect the big fella to eat once again 🍽

Trivia question: Michigan has had a first-round NBA Draft pick in five of the last six years — can you name all five selections? (answer below)

Mountain West Bubble Watch

That Big Ten showdown is hardly the only matchup of the day with bubble implications. Let’s take a stroll over to the Mountain West Conference, where Wyoming can solidify a tournament spot with a win over a UNLV team looking to strengthen their own case. Here’s how the lines are shaping up 👇

  • Spread: Wyoming -1.5

  • Moneyline: Wyoming -122, UNLV +102

  • Over/Under: 136.5

In bracket projections, Wyoming is currently one of the last teams in, a precarious place to be this week. With the strength of their resume, the Cowboys should feel good about their chances regardless of today’s outcome, but a win would go a long way 📈

  • On the other hand, UNLV has work to do. The Rebels are a dangerous squad, but with just a 13% chance of reaching the NCAA Tournament, even a trip to the MWC finals might not be enough for an at-large bid

  • Just a sliver of hope should provide ample motivation for them tonight though, and it was the Rebels who came out on top, 64-57, when the two teams met just over a week ago

Wyoming standout and first-team All-MWC selection Hunter Maldonado still stuffed the stat sheet in the loss, finishing with 22 points, 10 boards and 7 assists. Look for more of the same in today’s revenge effort 😈

Sorry Indiana and UNLV fans, but today is the day I think your bubbles officially burst. I’m rocking with the Wolverines, especially with Juwan Howard back on the sidelines, and I'm taking the Cowboys as well. Check it out 👇
