LeBron Is Chasing History 🐐

Although LeBron, AD, and KD won't play tonight, the Lakers' matchup in Brooklyn should be a good one. All eyes are on LeBron's pursuit of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, but the King needs his rest. Look for Kyrie to pick up the slack πŸ€ (3 min read)

Coast to Coast

Happy Monday - hope everyone enjoyed a great Sunday of football...we have ourselves a fantastic Eagles vs. Chiefs Super Bowl matchup. Over on the hardwood, after opening up their five-game road-trip with a brutal overtime loss to the Celtics, the Lakers will play the first half of a New York back-to-back against the Nets. If you haven't seen the drama surrounding Saturday's missed call, take a look πŸ‘‡

Still, Los Angeles is trending up due to some newfound depth following a trade for Rui Hachimura, Lonnie Walker IV's return from injury and Austin Reaves' imminent recovery from a hamstring strain. The Lakers' depth will be tested tonight with the team ruling out both LeBron James and Anthony Davis πŸ€•

At just 3-6 since KD went down with an MCL sprain, the Nets have struggled to hang on to home court advantage in the East. Their 30-19 record has them in fourth, with a single-game lead over the Cavs and a three-game lead over Miami. However, both Kyrie and KD were voted All-Star game starters a few days ago ⭐️

Here's how Vegas has the two shorthanded clubs pegged heading into tonight's game πŸ‘‡

Making History

After 76 years of NBA basketball, nobody in the league's history has scored more points than Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's career total of 38,387. However, 40 games into his 20th season, LeBron has come just 116 points shy of Kareem's record. If he keeps scoring at his current pace of 30.2 PPG, LeBron will reach that mark in four games, putting him on track to make history when the Lakers play the Thunder in LA on February 7th. Might want to look into those tickets now if you're in the area πŸ‘€

However, if the Lakers hold LeBron out for another game or he slows down his scoring, he'll have a chance to break Kareem's record against the Bucks on the 9th, playing for and against the two teams Kareem played for in his career πŸ‘‘

  • In six seasons with the Bucks, Kareem scored 14,211 points

  • In 14 seasons with the Lakers, Kareem scored 24,176 points

If you counted his East and West stints as separate careers, Kareem's time with the Bucks would be the 185th most prolific scoring career ever, while his time with the Lakers would rank 32nd all-time, ahead of future Hall of Famers like Russell Westbrook, James Harden, and Dwyane Wade 🀯

Unless LeBron gets injured (knock on wood), he is 100% going to pass Kareem this season. It's truly a remarkable accomplishment, and one that makes the Jordan vs. LeBron debate even more difficult. I have to ask...who is your GOAT? 🐐

Trivia Question: Who is the Lakers' all-time leading scorer by total points?

For My Parlay Gurus

Despite getting nine points, I have the Lakers' depth stepping up and bringing home a much-needed dub in Brooklyn. Expect Rui Hachimura to go off too in his third game in the purple and gold, especially without the Lakers' top dogs taking all the shots. Give me the points and the under tonight πŸ‘‡

  • Lakers +9 @ Nets: -110

  • Under 231 Total Points Scored: -110

$100 on this bet would win you $264 β€” if we hit, make sure you email [email protected] for a chance to win up to $100*. Many will enter, only some will win πŸ˜‰
