Harbaugh’s Suspension

We’re just a little over a month before the 2023 College Football season kicks off, and we have our biggest piece of news out of the Big Ten from this offseason. Jim Harbaugh and the NCAA are in discussion about a potential negotiated four-game suspension this coming season 👇

The Level I allegations (the most serious kind) are surrounding violations from recruiting moves that took place during the COVID-19 dead period. However, the internet did it’s thing by congratulating the Michigan athletic department for locking down a suspension centered around one of the lightest schedules of a major football program 😅

For years now, Michigan has had one of the easier non-conference schedules out there. Last season they opened with Colorado State, Hawaii and UConn, and the year before that it was Western Michigan, Washington and NIU. Things toughen up after this season, when the Wolverines start a home-and-away series with Texas in 2024 & 2026 and Oklahoma in 2025 & 2027, plus the addition of UCLA and USC joining the Big Ten looming 💪

The Big Ten East, which features Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State, is certainly the better of the two divisions. Wisconsin is the favorite to win the West at +125 over Iowa, but the Badgers have the fourth best odds to win the Conference Championship game behind the three powerhouses above. The Buckeyes have a slight betting edge this season, despite dropping two in a row to Harbaugh and co. Take a look at the odds 🏈

  • Ohio State: +165

  • Michigan: +185

  • Penn State: +600

  • Wisconsin: +800

  • Iowa: +1100

Trivia Question: Which program has won more Big Ten titles: Michigan or Ohio State?

For My Parlay Gurus

I went to Michigan, so this should come as no shock that I like the +185 odds to win a third consecutive Big Ten title. McCarthy is back after his first year as the starter, Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards form the best RB duo in the country, and Ohio State is starting a new QB in Kyle McCord. Harbaugh missing four games shouldn’t mean much. Here’s two futures I’m on 👇

  • Michigan over 10.5 regular season wins: -148

  • Blake Corum to win the Heisman: +3000
