The Jazz (+1.5) Are 2-0 Against The Mavs This Season

The 4th place Jazz will travel to Dallas to take on the 5th place Mavs. With Luka questionable, can Dallas take care of business at home to close the gap? šŸ¤” (4 minute read)

Jazz @ Mavs Preview

Every game between playoff teams is becoming super important as we enter the final stretch of the season. The Jazz (40-23) have won four of their last five games, while the Mavs (39-25) have won four straight, even with Luka Doncic missing their last outing vs. the Kings

Separated by just 1.5 games, Dallas can close the gap on Utah for 4th place and home-court advantage in the West tonight šŸ‘‡

  • Spread: Mavs -1.5

  • Moneyline: Jazz +110 (bet $100, win $110), Mavs -130 (bet $130, win $100)

  • Over/Under: 216.5

Utah has owned the season series, winning each of their previous two matchups. If history has taught us anything, it's that taking the Jazz is your best bet šŸ¤‘

Trying To Stay In The Mix

After the All-Star break, the Jazz had the third-best odds to win the Western Conference. But with the way the Suns and Grizzlies have played, Utah will have more competition than they thought 🄵

  • Phoenix Suns: +180, currently 1st in the West

  • Golden State Warriors: +185, currently 2nd

  • Utah Jazz: +650, currently 4th

  • Memphis Grizzlies: +1100, currently 3rd

  • Denver Nuggets: +1500, currently 6th

In their two wins over the Mavs in 2021-22, Donovan Mitchell has averaged 33.0 PPG, his third-most against any opponent this season šŸ•·

  • The real story though has been the play of reigning 6MOY Jordan Clarkson. Since January 1st, he's averaging 16.0 PPG on 44% shooting from the field

The Jazz rank first in offensive rating this season (115.9) and 13th in defensive rating (109.8). With how well they've played on both sides of the ball, I'm taking the Jazz against the spread tonight, regardless of the back-to-back šŸŽ·

Trivia question: can you name BOTH colleges Jordan Clarkson played at? (answer below)

Don't Sleep On Dallas

Forget the suspect start to the season, the Mavs have seriously turned it around. One BIG move has helped a lot...the Kristaps Porzingis trade šŸ¦„

  • In February, the Mavs traded Porzingis and a second-round pick to the Wizards for Spencer Dinwiddie and Davis Bertans

  • Despite playing the Sixth-Man role, Dinwiddie has made a huge impact as the Mavs' third option behind Luka Doncic and Jalen Brunson. He dropped 36 pts on Saturday

  • The Mavs are 6-1 since Dinwiddie's arrival, and he's averaging 22.0 PPG and 6.0 APG since the All-Star break

As for Luka, he's once again in the MVP conversation, posting the eighth-best odds to win the coveted trophy at +3000. He's averaging 27.8 PPG (6th-best in NBA) and 8.8 APG (5th-best in NBA)

  • However, he's still listed as day-to-day after missing last game with a toe injury. The Mavs are not concerned and believe he'll be back on the court very soon

Even if Luka plays tonight, I like the Jazz on the road. They've had Dallas' number all year šŸ’°

For My Parlay Gurus

With the Jazz posting a 26-13 record vs. the Western Conference this season, I'm confident they can get a win on the road against the Mavs. To finish off the parlay, I'm taking the Sixers over the Bulls in Philly šŸ‘‡

  • Jazz +1.5 @ Mavs: -110

  • Sixers -6.5 vs. Bulls: -110

$100 on this bet would win you $264 -- if we hit, make sure you email justin.schnell@itsovertime.com for $100*. First come, first serve šŸ˜‰

Trivia answer: Clarkson played two seasons at Tulsa before transferring to Missouri for his last year of college ball
