Heisman Preview

The 2022-23 College Football season officially begins in 23 days. And to no surprise, Nick Saban's Alabama Crimson Tide are the Championship favorites at +180. Besides winning titles though, Bama has housed four Heisman Trophy winners over the last 13 years, including the last two ๐Ÿ”ฅ

If you want to cash in on a Heisman bet, it's best to focus on QBs, who have won 10 of the last 12 awards. Bryce Young finished second in passing yards (4,872) and accounted for 50 total TDs last season, winning the award with somewhat long preseason odds (+800) ๐ŸคŒ

It'll be a tough task to repeat, as there's two QBs many expect to match Young's level of production. Take a look at the top Heisman winner odds ๐Ÿ‘‡

2022-23 Heisman Trophy Odds (subject to change)

  • C.J. Stroud, Ohio State QB: +200 (bet $100, win $200)

Top Quarterbacks

The most prestigious award in College Football has been historically good to QBs, and also exceptionally good to the Big Ten and SEC ๐Ÿ˜ค

The last three Heisman Trophy winners came from the SEC, with the two before that being Lincoln Riley's QBs (Baker and Kyler). It seems as if there's a trend, but then again, the Heisman market is normally very hard to predict this early in the season. Let's take a look at the top QBs in the country ๐Ÿ‘‡

๐ŸŒฐ C.J. Stroud, Ohio State

  • In 2021, Stroud became the fourth Buckeye to finish in the Top-4 of Heisman voting in the last four seasons. He threw for 4,435 yards and 44 TDs, and carried Ohio State to a Rose Bowl win over Utah. With a loaded group on offense this year featuring Jaxon Smith-Njigba and TreVeyon Henderson, it's no wonder Stroud is the favorite

๐Ÿ˜ Bryce Young, Alabama

  • The level of pressure on Young to become a two-time Heisman Trophy winner is immense. Coming off a year where he set the school's single-season record for passing yards (4,872) and TDs (47), he'll need to match that production if he wants to repeat. Luckily, he's got Will Anderson Jr. on the defensive side of the ball to keep Bama's offense on the field

โš”๏ธ Caleb Williams, USC

  • Back in February, Williams transferred from Oklahoma to USC to reunite with HC Lincoln Riley. He started the final seven games for the Sooners last season, finishing with 1,912 yards and accounting for 27 TDs (21 passing & six rushing). Coach Riley builds Heisman winners, so we'll see if Williams is next. Former Pitt WR Jordan Addison will help, who also transferred in to join the party

If I was a regular bettor...which I am...I'd take Caleb Williams at +700. I love a good narrative, and Williams and Riley bringing home the Heisman Trophy to SoCal in year one just feels right ๐Ÿ”ฎ
