And So It Begins

You truly never know what you’re going to get with playoff hockey, but with just two teams remaining in the hunt for the Stanley Cup, we have a finals matchup that feels like it was fate 🔮

  • The Eastern Conference representative is the Tampa Bay Lightning, who have held the title of Cup champions for over 700 days, and are looking to pull off the first three-peat in nearly 40 years

  • Their opponent from the Western Conference will be the Colorado Avalanche, who entered the playoffs as the Cup favorite and have looked the part so far with a 12-2 postseason record 🔥

Will the Lightning cement themselves as one of the most impressive hockey dynasties in recent memory? Or will the red-hot Avalanche dethrone them en route to capturing just the third Stanley Cup in franchise history?

  • It’s been over 20 years since Colorado's last title, but oddsmakers are backing Colorado (-175) to come out on top over the two-time reigning champs (+150) in the series

  • Picking the Cup winner not a bold enough wager for ya? Check out the odds on these exact series lines instead 😏

Whether you like the Avalanche to sweep (+820) or the Lightning to squeeze it out in seven (+610), it all gets started TONIGHT with Game 1 👀

Game 1 Preview

The first puck drop of the 2022 Stanley Cup Finals goes down at 8PM EST tonight in Denver, take a look at how the lines are shaping up ahead of Game 1 👇

  • Spread: Avalanche -1.5

  • Moneyline: Avalanche -152 (bet $152, win $100), Lightning +126 (bet $100, win $126)

  • O/U: 6 Total Goals

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before, but we’ve got a classic clash of styles in this finals matchup, with a battle of offense against defense ⚔️

  • On the offensive end, it doesn’t get much better than the Avalanche. They lead the NHL in scoring this postseason, and they’ve averaged half a goal more per game then the next best team

  • However, the Lightning should be the stingiest defense they’ve faced yet. Tampa Bay is allowing just 2.3 goals per game in the playoffs, best among teams with at least eight appearances, and they have let up just a single goal in each of their last three 💪

Until we get a better read on which style this series will favor, catch me staying away from any O/U 😅 . But one thing you can count on no matter what is stars showing out on hockey’s biggest stage, and this series has plenty of em

  • Colorado’s Nathan MacKinnon has been the face of the franchise since being taken first overall in 2013, and the star wing has lived up to his usual standards with a team-high 11 goals in the playoffs, second most in the league

  • However, even MacKinnon has been overshadowed by the exceptional play of teammate Cale Makar. The Conn Smythe favorite (+180) leads the team in playoff points and has put up insane numbers for any player, let alone a defenseman 🤯

  • But Tampa Bay has their fair share of studs as well. Nikita Kucherov leads all players in the series with 23 points this postseason, and there’s a reason why the man in goal, Andrei Vasilevskiy, is on the short list of Smythe contenders

Arguably the best goalie in the world against one of the most electric attacks we’ve seen in recent years? If that’s not enough to convince you to tune into tonight, I don’t know what is 🤷🏻‍♂️

Trivia Question: Can you name the three NHL teams that have won three straight Stanley Cups? (answer below)

For My Parlay Gurus

Between the regular season and playoffs, the Avalanche have dropped just seven games at Ball Arena this season. As much as I respect the Lightning’s championship pedigree, I’m siding with offense and home ice advantage in this one — here’s the parlay I’m rocking with 👇

  • Avalanche ML vs. Oilers: -152

  • Cale Makar Over 1.5 Points: +182

$100 on this bet would win you $368 — if we hit, make sure you email [email protected] for a chance to win up to $100*. Many will enter, only some will win 😉

Trivia Answer: The Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens both have a pair of three-peats in their history, with the Canadiens winning five titles in a row between 1956-60, and four in a row between 1976-79. The most recent three-peat was accomplished by the New York Islanders, who won four consecutive Cups from 1980-83
