Big Ten Football Preview Ft. Ohio State 🏈

The Buckeyes' run of four straight Big Ten titles came to an end last season, but a return to the top could be inevitable with a loaded roster. Maybe that's why they're one of three teams who aren't plus money to win their conference 👀 (4 min read)

Tonight's parlay is Bears +3.5 vs. Seahawks and Over 40.5 Total Points. More info below on a chance to win $100 👇

Big Ten Football Preview

I think there's one thing we can all agree on...the best part about summertime coming to a bittersweet end is that football season is right around the corner 🙌

  • While the NFL preseason just got underway last week, college football action is nearly upon us, with some teams set to kick off their season in less than ten days

If there's one team just as eager as I am to get this season underway, it's the Ohio State Buckeyes, especially after failing to win their conference for the first time in five years

  • OSU won four straight Big Ten titles from 2017-20, but that streak came to an abrupt end at the hands of their arch-rival Michigan, who then destroyed Iowa 42-3 to earn their first playoff berth

  • What made the Wolverines' 2021 season even sweeter was securing their first head-to-head win over the Buckeyes since 2011 🤯

However, HC Ryan Day looks like he has another juggernaut on his hands this year 🍿

  • Ohio State not only checks in as the Big Ten favorite, but also as one of the top contenders for the national title (+300, trailing only Alabama at +180)

While Michigan has the talent to compete for the crown once again this season, OSU may be in a league of their own as they kick off their revenge tour. Take a look at the top teams' odds to to bring home a Big Ten title this season 👇

Odds To Win The Big Ten (subject to change)

  • Ohio State: -200 (bet $200, win $100)

  • Michigan: +800 (bet $100, win $800)

  • Wisconsin: +1200

  • Penn State: +1400

  • Iowa: +2000

  • Nebraska: +2000

Ohio State supporters hoping for a discount after last season may be a bit disappointed, as the Buckeyes are currently the biggest conference favorite in the nation based on odds, and they're one of just three FBS teams who aren't plus money to win their respective conference 😳

Can Anyone Beat The Buckeyes?

Simply put, there's a reason why Ohio State is the odds-on favorite to return to the top of the Big Ten, and it all starts with the man under center 🏈

  • In his first season as a starter, C.J. Stroud threw for 4,435 yards and 44 TDs en route to a fourth-place finish in Heisman voting. Oddsmakers are bullish on his chances to win the award this year (+200)

  • The playmakers at his disposal in a lethal Buckeye offense make it easy to see why he's the favorite — WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba and RB TreVeyon Henderson both rank among college football's best players

Here's a reminder of what these guys are capable of ⬇️

A Big Ten title never comes easy, and as many powerhouse college football teams have learned before, one game can make or break a season. If any conference rival is going to topple the Buckeyes this year, it'll likely be one of these two squads 👇

〽️ Michigan Wolverines

Quarterback battle aside, the reigning champs are undoubtedly Ohio State's biggest threat, as they look to build off the most successful season of the Harbaugh era

  • An underwhelming showing against Georgia in the College Football Playoff hasn't slowed this year's hype train, as Michigan checks in at 8th in the preseason AP poll, and they're currently the most bet-on win total in the country 😤

🦡 Wisconsin Badgers

Last season was a rollercoaster ride for the Badgers, who rattled off seven straight wins before letting a conference title game berth slip away in their last regular season game 😢

  • Led once again by a characteristically stout defense, Wisco is the favorite to avenge their collapse and win the Big Ten West this year, despite having the fewest returning starters in the conference 😬

Iowa, fresh off an appearance in the Big Ten title game, has the second-most returning starters in the conference, and Penn State should be much improved with a fully-healthy Sean Clifford. Both teams could theoretically challenge Ohio State this year as well, but my money is definitely on the Buckeyes 🌰

Trivia Question: Since 1986, only one Michigan quarterback has been named an All-American. Who was it? (answer below)

For My Parlay Gurus

We'll have to wait just a bit longer to see Ohio State suit up for the first time this season, in a highly-anticipated showdown against Notre Dame on September 3rd. But former Buckeye standout Justin Fields will be in action tonight, as the Bears take on the Seahawks to kick off Week 2 of the preseason. Here's the parlay I'm going with 👇

  • Bears +3.5 vs. Seahawks: -110

  • Over 40.5 Total Points: -105

Trivia Answer: Dual-threat QB Denard Robinson was a first-team All-American in the 2010 season after throwing for 2,570 yards and rushing for 1,702, while also scoring 32 total TDs. He was named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year for his efforts
