Big Philly vs. Houston Night π βΎοΈ
Not only are the Phillies and Astros duking it out for a World Series title, but the Eagles are also set to take on the Texans in a TNF matchup that's a bit more one-sided π€·π»ββοΈ (3 min read)

PHI-HOU Hits The Gridiron
A World Series clash is surely enough motive on its own to turn any two cities against each other, but if Philly and Houston fans weren't already at each other's throats with a crucial Game 5 going down tonight and an Astros' no-hitter last night, TNF should add a bit more fuel to that fire π
While the City of Brotherly Love (a nickname Mattress Mack probably disagree with) hosts a World Series game for the third straight evening, over in Houston the undefeated Eagles will take on the one-win Texans
The two games will start just minutes apart, and as you might expect, this kind of overlap is rarely seen β¬οΈ
The Eagles and Texans will meet on Thursday night in Houston while the Phillies and Astros are scheduled to play World Series Game 5 in Philadelphia.
ELIAS: It will mark the 7th time a World Series and NFL game take place on the same day, involving the same two metro areas.

Let's focus on the gridiron action here, and it doesn't take a football expert to tell you that this showdown isn't as evenly matched as the one at the ballpark. Here's how the lines are shaping up for a David-versus-Goliath matchup at NRG Stadium π
Eagles vs. Texans Betting Preview (subject to change)
Spread: Eagles -14
Moneyline: Eagles -820 (bet $820, win $100), Bears +570 (bet $100, win $570)
Over/Under: 45.5
The quality of football on Thursday night has varied drastically from week-to-week, but at the very least, the games have mostly been competitive. The last four TNF matchups have all been settled by one possession π
But if the odds are any indication, that streak will be coming to an end tonight. The 14-point spread matches Bills-Steelers in Week 5 for the largest of the season, and Buffalo won that 38-3 π¬
The Eagles rank Top-3 in the league in both scoring and total offense, and an already star-studded defense just added Robert Quinn before the trade deadline. Meanwhile, the Texans have the fourth-worst points differential in the league. Something tells me oddsmakers may have got this one right π
Trivia question: Who was the Eagles' starting QB the last time they started a season 7-0?

Who To Watch
I think the Eagles blow the Texans out of the water tonight, but if you're like me and you typically try your best to stay away from double-digit spreads, here are some key players worth checking out in the prop market π
π Jalen Hurts (QB, PHI)
The Line: Any Time Touchdown (-120)
I'd be wary of taking any volume-based props of Hurts, but that has nothing to do with any concerns regarding his MVP-caliber play (+450)
Rather, I'm worried a blowout will have the star QB taking an early breather, especially after watching him spend most of the 4th quarter on the sidelines in Sunday's 22-point victory
But there should still be ample scoring opportunities tonight for the Birds, and I like Hurts to pick up his seventh rushing score of the season sometime early. Perhaps for the first TD of the game at +600 if you're feeling extra bold π
π Dameon Pierce (RB, HOU)
The Line: O/U 86.5 Rushing + Receiving Yards (-114)
Someone's gotta gain yards for Houston, right? With leading receiver Brandin Cooks questionable and second-leading receiver Nico Collins already ruled out, that onus will fall on Dameon Pierce, even more so than usual tonight
The rookie running back has largely been up to the task this season, rushing for an efficient 539 yards so far, while emerging as a top contender for Offensive ROY (+300)
He's averaged five targets per game over the last four as well, so I expect him to be featured heavily both on the ground and through the air tonight πͺ
π A.J. Brown (WR, PHI)
The Line: Any Time Touchdown (+105)
Plus money for A.J. Brown to score tonight? Against the Texans?? Oddsmakers must not have been paying attention on Sunday β¬οΈ
These are the three touchdown catches from AJ Brown today so far.
ALL IN DOUBLE COVERAGE!!!

The guy's got more yards this season than all the receivers combined on the team that traded him earlier this year. The Eagles may not need a nuclear performance from him tonight, but I still like the chances of him victimizing a CB in the endzone at least once π

For My Parlay Gurus
Like I said, I typically try my best to avoid double-digit spreads, but rarely am I this confident in a favorite. Even on the road, I like the Eagles by two-plus touchdowns, and I think A.J. Brown gets in on the scoring once again. Check it out π
Eagles -14 vs. Texans: -106
A.J. Brown Any Time Touchdown: +105
