Auburn (-7.5) Hasn’t Lost A Game In Regulation This Season

The top-ranked Tigers have just a lone overtime loss on their resume, but their opponent tonight, Alabama, has already taken down two top-five teams this year 🐘 (4 minute read)

Alabama vs. Auburn Preview

If you’re looking for the game of the night in college basketball, you’ve got options. It’s yet another loaded Tuesday, with 10 members of the top-25 in action, and all of them are facing teams with winning records

With so many competitive matchups on tap, no one is safe. That includes the hottest team in the nation, #1 Auburn, who is set to host an Alabama squad that has played their best in big games. Here’s how the lines are looking ahead of this SEC rivalry showdown👇

  • Spread: Auburn -7.5

  • Moneyline: Auburn -290 (bet $290, win $100), Alabama +230 (bet $100, win $230)

  • Over/Under: 155.5

Can Anyone Stop Auburn?

While they haven’t overtaken Gonzaga yet as the national title favorite (they’re tied for second at +1000), it’s no stretch to say that Auburn has been playing like the best team in college basketball this season. If their last game is any indication, they’re still getting better

  • The 20-1 Tigers have rattled off 17 straight wins, with their lone loss this season coming against No. 17 UConn in double-OT back in November

  • In Saturday’s 18-point dismantling of a tough Oklahoma team, future top-five pick Jabari Smith had arguably his best all-around game yet, scoring 23 points to go along with 12 boards

  • UNC transfer and former five-star recruit Walker Kessler has also come alive — the 7-footer is averaging 17.6 points and 9.4 rebounds over his last five games

With their two young big men playing this well, the Tigers absolutely look like the real deal. But Alabama is coming off a statement win of their own over the weekend 👀

  • The Crimson Tide bested #4 Baylor at home on Saturday, 87-78. Point guard Jahvon Quinerly led all scorers with 20 points

  • It was Alabama’s second win over a top-five team this season (they beat #3 Gonzaga in December) and their fifth win over a top-15 team

  • However, prior to beating Baylor, Bama lost to a 6-15 Georgia team with a NET rating of 213. Six of the Tide’s seven losses this year have come against unranked teams

  • Alabama’s only loss against a ranked opponent? Their first matchup against Auburn

The season’s first iteration of the heated rivalry lived up to the hype, with the Tigers managing to escape Tuscaloosa with a four-point victory. Auburn’s on a roll, but don’t be shocked if tonight’s matchup is just as close 😏

Trivia question: If Jabari Smith hears his named called in the top-five come June, he’d be Auburn’s second top-five NBA Draft selection in the last three years. Who was the other? (answer below)

Big 12 Battles

We know at least two ranked teams will pick up another loss tonight, because out in the Big 12, four of them are matched up against each other 👇

  • Spread: Kansas -4.5

  • Moneyline: Kansas -180, Iowa State +155

  • Over/Under: 138

The Jayhawks are coming off a wild week, featuring an epic double-OT victory over Texas Tech, followed by an 18-point loss against Kentucky (their first double-digit defeat of the season)

  • This will be the second meeting of the season between Kansas and Iowa State; in the first, an impressive comeback by the Cyclones was spoiled by a Kansas game-winning layup in the final seconds

  • Spread: Texas Tech -6

  • Moneyline: Texas +205, Texas Tech -255

  • Over/Under: 121.5

This in-state rivalry is almost always competitive — in their last ten matchups, only one has been settled by more than 10 points. Texas Tech has the 8-2 advantage over that span

  • The Longhorns are fresh off their best win of the season, a 52-51 nail-biter over #18 Tennessee. Texas was previously 0-3 against ranked opponents

  • On the other hand, the Red Raiders have already taken down four ranked teams this year, and they’ve yet to drop a game at home

For My Parlay Gurus

Auburn is my pick to bring home the national title this April, and while I expect them to win tonight, Bama is feisty. I’m taking Crimson Tide with the points and Texas Tech to take care of business at home 👇

  • Alabama +7.5 vs. Auburn: -110

  • Texas Tech -6 vs. Texas: -110

$100 on this bet would win you $264 — if we hit, make sure to email [email protected] for $100*. First come, first serve 😉
