Week 1 Preview
No offense to Week 0, which turned out to be interesting thanks to Nebraska choking against Northwestern, but College Football really starts now. Tomorrow's full slate of Week 1 games is headlined by one of the most intriguing matchups of the year πΏ
No. 5 Notre Dame will take on No. 2 Ohio State for their first regular season meeting since 1996 π³
But before we break down some of the best Week 1 games, it's only right that we take a temperature check on championship odds π‘
NCAAF FBS Championship Odds (subject to change)
Alabama: +180 (bet $100, win $180)
Ohio State: +300
Georgia: +350
Clemson: +800
USC: +2000
Texas A&M: +2500
Once again, we start another College Football year with the Alabama Crimson Tide as championship favorites (this is getting old π). However, this season is a revenge tour for the Tide, who lost to Georgia in the 2021-22 National Championship Game π

The Tide will be in pursuit of their 19th title in program history, while Nick Saban will be looking for his eighth overall. Alabama kicks off their season tomorrow night against Utah State, a game that couldn't be more lopsided...the spread is over 40 points π€¦ββοΈ
In the past five years, favorites of 30 or more points in Game 1 have gone 35-49 (41%) ATS per @Bet_Labs.
Big Week 1 favorites:
Alabama -41.5
Texas -37.5
Minnesota -36.5
Tennessee -35.5
USC -33.5
Michigan -30.5
OU -30.5β John Ewing π¦ (@johnewing)

Enough about Bama though, it's time to take a look at this loaded schedule tomorrow, including three ranked matchups. Let's dive in π
Trivia Question: Nick Saban has the most National Championships by a College Football coach all-time with seven. Who has the second-most? (answer below)

Tough Draws
With no preseason games in College Football, imagine looking at your Week 1 schedule and seeing another Top-25 team...sheesh. Shoutout to all the coaches who have to prepare for a challenge like that on opening night, and unfortunately for the teams below, that nightmare becomes a reality this weekend π¬
π No. 11 Oregon vs. No. 3 Georgia (Saturday, 3:30PM EST)
This massive game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta will feature a new-look Georgia team, who lost 15 players to the NFL Draft. Vegas doesn't seem to care though, as UGA is favored by double digits π€―
Former Georgia defensive coordinator Dan Lanning will be making his Oregon head coaching debut against his former team
Adding to the intrigue, Auburn transfer Bo Nix is expected to get the QB nod for Oregon π
Oregon and Georgia haven't played since 1977, but Saturday will be Bo Nix's fourth career start against the Bulldogs

π No. 23 Cincinnati vs. No. 19 Arkansas (Saturday, 3:30PM EST)
Cincinnati has won all 22 of their regular-season games the past two years, but they always seem to stumble against the SEC, including a College Football Playoff Semifinal loss to Alabama in 2021-22 π
To win as road underdogs in Arkansas (CIN +6.5) would certainly quiet some critics, but it won't be easy with returning dual-threat QB KJ Jefferson at the helm for the Razorbacks
π No. 5 Notre Dame vs. No. 2 Ohio State (Saturday, 7:30PM EST)
One of the notable storylines for this game is Ohio State alum Marcus Freeman returning to Columbus for his first season as HC of Notre Dame
As for the Buckeyes, they're returning QB C.J. Stroud, RB TreVeyon Henderson and WR Jaxson Smith-Njigba from last year's team, who led the nation in scoring at 45.7 PPG
To no surprise, the line continues to increase in Ohio State's favor, as few people think the Irish can pull off an upset on opening night π ββοΈ
In the past 10 years, in Week 1 matchups of Top 25 teams the favorite is 18-11 (62%) ATS per @Bet_Labs.

Despite all the numbers, when it comes time for kickoff, we'll all be tuned in to see the top teams in College Football battle it out π€

For My Parlay Gurus
Although it's only Week 1, every game holds a lot of weight in College Football, so expect these players to be energized. I don't think Oregon will beat Georgia out of the gates, but I do believe the Ducks can cover spread. I'm pairing that with Notre Dame to do the same against Ohio State in Columbus. Check it out π
Oregon +16.5 vs. Georgia: -105
Notre Dame +17.5 vs. Ohio State: -115
