Alabama (+2.5) Is 5-0 ATS As Underdogs In Their Last Five Games

No. 1 Alabama will face No. 3 Georgia in the CFP National Championship game. If Bama wants to pick up their 7th title under Nick Saban, they'll have to do it as 2.5-point underdogs šŸ‘€ (4 minute read)

The Steelers were really happy the Raiders kicked that game-winning field goal last night, especially Chase Claypool šŸ˜‚, the NFL playoff matchups are now set — let’s talk Georgia vs. Bama šŸ‘‡

CFP National Title Preview

Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide will be playing for a National Title. Hmmm, that sounds very familiar. In fact, we’ve heard that headline six times in the last seven years. Tonight, No. 1 Alabama will take on No. 3 Georgia in the CFP National Championship game at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis

This is not the first time Alabama and Georgia have met in the Championship game. And, it’s not the first time they’ve met this season. Back on December 4th, Alabama beat Georgia 41-24 in the SEC title game. So, the question is — can they do it twice? CFP Preview:

  • Spread: Georgia -2.5

  • Moneyline: Georgia -140 (bet $140, win $100), Alabama +120 (bet $100, win $120)

  • Over/Under: 52.5

Always Bet With Bama

Alabama is an underdog. Yes, you read that correctly. The Tide hadn’t been an underdog once from October of 2015 till this past December, so what’s the sudden change? I guess Vegas doesn’t believe you can beat a great team twice in one season. Don’t bet against Bama though, their numbers are just too good…

Betting Trends

  • Alabama is 5-0 ATS as underdogs in their last 5 games

  • Alabama is 4-1 ATS in the playoffs in their last 5 games

  • Alabama is 12-5 ATS against a team with a winning record in their last 17 games

Familiar Foes: In the SEC Championship, Bama put up 41 points against a strong Georgia defense. That accounted for roughly 30% of the points the Bulldogs allowed all season. QB Bryce Young also had his way, throwing for 421 yards and 3 TDs. If Georgia can’t contain the 2021 Heisman Trophy winner, this game might be over early

Clicking When It Counts: Alabama is playing their best football at the right time. Over the last two weeks, their offensive line has allowed just two sacks after giving up 15 to LSU, Auburn, and Arkansas combined. On top of that, RB Brian Robinson is coming off a 200+ yard rushing performance vs Cincinnati, breaking the Alabama record for rushing yards in a bowl game

At the end of the day, experience is always good to have on your side, and Alabama has a lot of it. They’re seeking their seventh national title under Nick Saban, so you know I’m taking Bama against the spread tonight 🐘

Trivia question: how many running backs currently in the NFL went to Bama? (answer below)

Bryce Young Prop Bet

This season, Bryce Young became the first Alabama quarterback to win the Heisman Trophy. Tonight, he has a chance to become the 18th player in NCAAF history to win a Heisman AND National Title in the same season, joining three fellow Bama players:

  • 2009: RB Mark Ingram

  • 2015: RB Derrick Henry

  • 2020: WR DeVonta Smith

Young has been nothing short of exceptional, and I don’t expect anything different on the biggest stage. Let’s look at his touchdown prop bet in the title game šŸ‘‡

  • Over 2.5: +130

  • Under 2.5: -170

I know it seems risky taking the over at 2.5 against a Georgia defense that’s giving up just 9.5 PPG, but hear me out. Young has thrown 46 touchdown passes this season, the 2nd-most in NCAAF. Out of 14 games, he’s thrown fewer than three touchdowns just four times

Not to mention, Young torched Georgia in their last matchup. When throwing the ball 10+ yards down field, he was 10-of-17 for 283 yards and three touchdowns. The plus-money on this prop is too crazy not to take, I mean it’s the 2021 AP College Football Player of the Year we’re talking about šŸ˜

For My Parlay Gurus

Alabama hasn’t lost to Georgia since 2007 – Nick Saban’s first season in Tuscaloosa. Betting against Saban is like betting against Tom Brady. You just don’t do it. So, for the fourth time in six years, I see the confetti falling on Saban’s fluffy hair. Here’s my ROLL TIDE parlay šŸ‘‡

  • Alabama +2.5 vs Georgia: -105

  • Bryce Young over 2.5 passing TDs: +130

Throwing down $100 on this parlay would result in a $349 payout. Hopefully that’s enough for me to snag a leather bomber jacket like Saban’s media day fashion statement. šŸ˜‚ If this hits, make sure to email [email protected]* for $100. First come, first serve šŸ’°

Trivia answer: there’s currently six Bama running backs in the NFL —Derrick Henry, Najee Harris, Mark Ingram, Damien Harris, Josh Jacobs and Kenyan Drake (seven if you count Alvin Kamara, who transferred from Bama to Tennessee)
