The AL Has Won 8 Straight All-Star Games

Let's be honest, the American League absolutely owns the National League in All-Star Games. But with all of baseball's best suiting up tonight in LA, anything can happen. Who you got? ๐Ÿงข (3 min read)

The Stars Are Out In LA

The Midsummer Classic got underway in explosive fashion last night with the Home Run Derby. Juan Soto walked away with the bag, and 21 year-old Julio Rodriguez came up just one short, even though he out-homered Soto 81-53 ๐Ÿ˜•

Tonight, the stars will take the field at Dodger Stadium once again for the 92nd MLB All-Star Game, where the National League will look to put an end to run of dominance by their American League counterparts

  • While NL teams have won eight of the last 12 World Series titles, the AL has long had their number in the All-Star Game. The American League has won 20 of the last 24, including the last eight in a row ๐Ÿคฏ

The game may no longer impact home field advantage in the World Series, but don't think a ninth-straight victory isn't enough motivation for players in the AL

  • However, despite the recent track record, oddsmakers are giving a slight edge to the NL tonight. Check out how the lines are shaping up ๐Ÿ‘‡

  • Spread: NL -1.5 (+170)

  • Moneyline: NL -115 (bet $115, win $100), AL -105 (bet $105, win $100)

  • O/U: 7.5 Total Runs

The one thing that's been as dominant in the All-Star Game recently as the American League? The under, which is gone 12-1-2 over the last 15 matchups ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Players to Watch

Lineups have been announced, starting pitchers have been named, and we are all set to see the best of the best in action tonight at 8PM EST. It wouldn't be a Hollywood All-Star Game without some theatrics, so here are some of the players most likely to steal the show โฌ‡๏ธ

๐Ÿ“ Shohei Ohtani (DH, Angels)

  • Despite disappointing news that we won't get to see the Japanese Babe Ruth both hit and pitch, all eyes will still be on Ohtani tonight. Set to hit leadoff for the AL, we won't have to wait long for the first chance to witness greatness

๐Ÿ“ Aaron Judge (OF, Yankees)

  • The MLB's home run leader may not have participated in last night's festivities, but with the Yankee slugger's propensity for moon shots, its no wonder why he's near the top of the odds board for tonight's MVP (+490)

๐Ÿ“ Clayton Kershaw (SP, Dodgers)

  • Speaking of All-Star Game MVP, only eight pitchers have ever won the award. But Kershaw drawing the start in his ninth (and final?) All-Star Game, in front of a home crowd no less, feels like a great backstory for some hardware

๐Ÿ“ Paul Goldschmidt (1B, Cardinals)

  • The odds-on favorite to win his first NL MVP Award in his age-34 season (-110), Goldschmidt is as good of a bet as any to come through with a big hit tonight. He's batting .406 with runners in scoring position this season, second-best in the league

Trivia Question: The last time a pitcher was named All-Star Game MVP was in 2019. Who was it? (answer below)

For My Parlay Gurus

With the amount of talent that has put on a National League All-Star jersey over the past nine years, you'd think they would have won at least one game, right? Well hey, why not this year? I'm going with the NL to bring a merciful end to their losing streak in a game that has a bit less action than I'm hoping for โ€” check it out ๐Ÿ‘‡

  • National League ML: -115

  • Under 7.5 Runs: -105

$100 on this bet would win you $265 โ€” if we hit, make sure you email [email protected] for a chance to win up to $100*. Many will enter, only some will win ๐Ÿ˜‰
