AFC or NFC? One bet to test your loyalty
Chiefs or Bucs? Packers or Bills? Which conference are you putting your money on 🤔 (4 minute read)
One Simple Bet
Instead of betting on one team to win the Super Bowl, why not bet on 16? Each conference has a few powerhouse teams, but the AFC is favored to win this year’s Super Bowl:
AFC: -130 (bet $130, win $100)
NFC: +110 (bet $100, win $110)
Over the last seven years, the AFC has won five Super Bowls. The conference took home three in a row from 2015-2017, but Brady and the NFC South Bucs are the reigning champs
2015: Patriots beat the Seahawks
2016: Broncos beat the Panthers
2017: Patriots beat the Falcons
2018: Eagles beat the Patriots
2019: Patriots beat the Rams
2020: Chiefs beat the 49ers
2021: Bucs beat the Chiefs
Repeat Winners
Since 1993, only three franchises have won back-to-back Super Bowls:
1993-1994 Cowboys
1998-1999 Broncos
2004-2005 Patriots
Brady is no stranger to repeating, as he’s won seven Super Bowls in ten attempts. He even had a chance to repeat in 2018 vs the Eagles
Of all the NFC teams, the Bucs have the best Super Bowl odds, making them a candidate to do something very few franchises have ever done
Bucs Super Bowl Odds: +500
Super Bowl Odds By Conference
Of the top 12 teams with the best SB odds, six are from the AFC and six are from the NFC. However, three of the top five favorites are AFC teams, showing why the line is skewed towards that conference
AFC Favorites:
Chiefs: +475
Bills: +950
Browns: +1150
NFC Favorites:
Bucs: +500
Packers: +900
If you’re not sure about any of these five teams, the conference bet gives you flexibility. But don’t rule out a Brady repeat 😉
The Sleepers Who Aren’t Sleepers
Not buying the hype on the five best teams? The remaining seven of the top 12 aren’t bad bets at the value their being given. Choose wisely though…
Browns: +1150
Ravens/49ers/Rams: +1350
Seahawks: +1800
The Rams and 49ers have represented the NFC in two of the last three Super Bowls, while Russell Wilson brought Seattle to back-to-back SB appearances in 2014-2015. There’s options with attractive payouts, but they’ll likely have to get by Mahomes, Brady and Rodgers
The Parlay
Heading into last season, the Bucs were +1200 to win the Super Bowl in Brady’s first season with Tampa Bay. If you were a genius and parlayed the Bucs to repeat, you’d be looking at a pretty sweet payout
Bucs to win SB 2021 AND SB 2022: +7700 (bet $100, win $7700)
