Best Rivalry In Football 🏈

Joe Burrow and Patrick Mahomes will battle this Sunday in a rematch of last year's epic Conference Championship. Can the red-hot Bengals get another win at Arrowhead? Can Burrow get to 4-0 vs. Mahomes? How's Pat's ankle? SO many questions...🍿 (3 min read)

It's A Rematch

Last year's AFC Championship game was an all-time upset, with second year QB Joe Burrow leading the upstart Cincinnati Bengals all the way back from a 21-3 halftime deficit...in Kansas City. Here's your reminder. Many believed Cincy didn't have a chance vs. the Chiefs in the week leading up to that overtime victory, but the tables have turned this season. The Bengals are looking like the most dominant team in the conference, fresh off a demolition of the preseason favorite Buffalo Bills 🐅

  • Burrow's squad has undoubtedly improved following last season's shocking Super Bowl run. They beefed up the much-maligned offensive line in the offseason, but have now succumbed to a litany of injuries...

  • However, these pitfalls have proved to not rattle Cincinnati at all, with Burrow showing out and dropping dimes to his bevy of talented receivers 🔥

On the other side, Kansas City is looking more vulnerable than ever, with likely MVP Patrick Mahomes sustaining an ankle injury last week vs. Jacksonville. While Mahomes was able to finish the game and will certainly be suiting up Sunday, only time will tell how close he'll be to 100%. This uncertainty has been dramatically apparent in oddsmakers' constantly shifting line predictions for this one 😂

  • Spread: Chiefs -1.5

  • Moneyline: Chiefs -118 (bet $118, win $100), Bengals +100 (bet $100, win $100)

  • Over/Under: 48

This One's Personal

It should go without saying that a battle-tested squad like Kansas City won't take kindly to the hype surrounding Cincinnati in this game. The Chiefs are, after all, hosting a record fifth straight AFC Championship game — a truly remarkable feat. However, they don't look exactly like the squad that the Bengals improbably toppled a year ago, and it goes well beyond the health of their QB 👇

  • The most stark difference in Kansas City has been the departure of star WR Tyreek Hill last offseason, as the speedster was historically efficient catching passes from Mahomes

  • However, the Chiefs didn't falter without Hill, as Mahomes has shown the ability to play like an MVP regardless of his weapons. To be fair, it helps to have Hall-of-Fame target in Travis Kelce, who — like his QB — has established himself as an all-time great playoff performer ⭐️

While Kansas City holds all the prestige, it's hard not to see Cincinnati as the squad with all of the momentum heading into this matchup. After a rocky start to the season, the Bengals have been absolutely rolling for the past few months. Giving Burrow a pair of star WRs like Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins is borderline unfair — this dynamic offense has been able to keep chugging regardless of their offensive line injuries 💪

  • There's a reason Burrow is generating so much buzz and drawing comparisons to all-time greats like Tom Brady and Peyton Manning. He's a truly generational talent like Mahomes, and is captaining an offense perfectly tailored to his strengths

  • Burrow manipulates the pocket flawlessly, navigating traffic and progressing through his reads with uncanny speed and skill 🔥

If we're being honest, I can't see either of these teams losing from a narrative perspective. I'm fully torn but extremely excited. Before I give you my take, who are you taking?

Trivia Question: What is Burrow's career playoff record?

For My Parlay Gurus

To be honest, I like the Bengals in this one regardless of Mahomes' injury status. They're a better squad top to bottom, and looked truly unstoppable vs. Buffalo. While Mahomes still holds the top QB mantle, Burrow is coming fast for his title — another run to the Super Bowl, a second straight AFC Championship victory in Kansas City and a career record of 4-0 vs. Pat might completely change the narrative...

  • Bengals +1.5 @ Chiefs: -112

  • Joe Burrow OVER 1.5 Passing TDs: -192
