⚽️ Euros Kick Off Today
One of the most important soccer tournaments in the world is back, with the 2024 European Championship set to begin in Germany today. The host nation is a serious threat, but as you might expect, some of the usual powerhouses should also be in the mix once again. Let's dive in 🍿 (2 min read)
2024 Euro Cup Preview
French superstar (and Real Madrid’s latest addition) Kylian Mbappe recently made headlines when he said that the Euros are more difficult than the World Cup. Like Messi, I’ll have to disagree with that sentiment, but there’s no doubt the tournament is a pretty big deal…and the 2024 European Championship is officially here 🏆
The 17th edition of the Euros will take place over the next month, with matches being played all across Germany, the host country. Per usual, it’s a loaded field full of serious contenders (take a full look at the six groups here)
Don’t believe me? Italy, the reigning champs from 2021’s COVID-delayed tournament, don’t even have top-5 title odds this time around. But real quick, take the time to relive their championship run from a few years back 👇

Despite having never won the Euros, it’s England who enters play today as the slight pre-tournament favorite. You’ll find the usual suspects joining them at the top of the odds board - take a look at this year’s biggest threats 👇
It’s now been 58 years since the English National Team last brought home a major international trophy, and it’s a drought made even more painful by how close they came to ending it in the last Euros. The runner-up by way of a PK shootout, they should have another deep run in them this year…and you can bank on striker Harry Kane being one of the most impactful players of the tournament 💪
Kane is +550 to capture the Golden Boot (leading goalscorer), trailing only Mbappe (+470). France is coming off a second-place at the World Cup, so it’s no surprise to see them as one of the favorites, and their 25-year-old captain sounds highly motivated 😤
“I really want to win this. It's my first competition as captain, so it’s really important for me." 🙏
Kylian Mbappe is ready to write the latest chapter in his and France’s history 🇫🇷🏆

On the topic of star-power, you still gotta give a shoutout to Cristiano Ronaldo (+1200 to win the Golden Boot), even in the twilight of his career. In what is likely his final Euros, Portugal has a real shot to make some noise; the 2016 champs were downright dominant in qualifying matches 💪

You always gotta watch out for the host nation as well, especially when they’re a team as dangerous as Germany. Can one of the most decorated players in recent memory add one more trophy to his impressive collection before he hangs up the cleats? 🤔

Germany will kick off the group stage later today when they take on Scotland, with a lot more action set to come later this weekend (take a look at the full schedule here). Here’s how the lines are shaping up for the first match of the 2024 Euros 👇
Spread: Germany -1.5
Moneyline: Germany -380, Scotland +1000, Tie +500
Over/Under: 2.5 Total Goals
When: 3PM EST Today on FOX
Trivia Question: Among active players in the 2024 Euros, who ranks second behind Ronaldo in career International goals?
For My Parlay Gurus
I love a good tie bet in soccer, but you won’t catch me picking against the host country in their opening match. I’ll take Germany to win and Thomas Muller, who is just as highly-decorated as Kroos, to find the back of the net. Check out this parlay 👇
Germany ML vs Scotland: -380
Thomas Muller Anytime Goalscorer: +210
$100 on this bet would win you $230 — if we hit, make sure you email [email protected] for a chance to win an Overtime hoodie*. Many will enter, only some will win 😉
