2021 NFL Season Props – Passing, Rushing and Receiving Yards Leaders
Looking to place a prop bet? Here's what you need to know 👇. Written by Jeanie Verderese
The NFL season is just THREE weeks away. That means it’s time to dig deep and figure out who will be the passing, rushing and receiving yards leaders for 2021-22
Odds to lead the NFL in Passing Yards:
Patrick Mahomes: +250 (bet $100 to win $250)
Dak Prescott: +350
Tom Brady: +600
Justin Herbert: +700
Josh Allen/Matt Stafford/Aaron Rodgers: +850
The Favorite: Patrick Mahomes
Since becoming the starting QB for the Chiefs in 2018, the only player who's thrown more passing yards than Mahomes' 13,868 is Matt Ryan at 13,971. With an improved offensive line and heathy running back, the Chiefs should have the best offense in football
The only reason to stay away from this bet is if you believe the Chiefs will be playing with the lead for most second halves, which would alter the number of pass plays called. In fact, last season the Chiefs didn’t even crack the Top 10 in pass play frequency
The Sleeper: Justin Herbert
Herbert at fourth (+700) is a very fun option to explore. Last season, Herbert was 38 yards short of breaking Andrew Luck’s record for most passing yards in a single season by a rookie, while starting 15 games vs Luck’s 16
On top of that, Herbert has the same MVP odds (+1600) as Kyler Murray and Russell Wilson. Clearly Vegas believes in this kid…
Odds to lead the NFL in Rushing Yards:
Derrick Henry: +225 (bet $100, win $225)
Dalvin Cook: +400
Nick Chubb: +550
Christian McCaffrey/Ezekiel Elliot/Saquon Barkley: +900
Jonathan Taylor: +950
The Favorite: Derrick Henry
Henry’s 2020 campaign was the eighth 2,000-yard rushing season in NFL history. In every season of his career, Henry has rushed for more yards than the last. With the NFL adding a seventeenth regular season game, Henry could have a chance to become the first player with TWO 2,000-yard seasons, or break Eric Dickerson’s single-season record (2,105 yards in 1984).
Either way, putting your money on Henry is a smart move
The Sleeper: Nick Chubb
Despite missing four games last season, Nick Chubb still rushed for over 1,000 yards. While Kareem Hunt definitely takes some touches away from Chubb, the Browns as a team had the third-most rushing yards in the NFL with 2,374, meaning the volume is there
Head coach Kevin Stefanski’s wide zone scheme has proved to be an ideal fit for Chubb in Cleveland
Odds to lead NFL in Receiving Yards:
DeAndre Hopkins/Calvin Ridley: +600 (bet $100, win $600)
Stefon Diggs/Davante Adams: +700
D.K. Metcalf: +850
Tyreek Hill: +900
Travis Kelce/Justin Jefferson: +950
The Favorite: DeAndre Hopkins
Hopkins finished 2020 with the third-most receiving yards at 1,407, behind Stefon Diggs (1,535) and Travis Kelce (1,416). While Hopkins had six fewer targets than Diggs last season, he finished with a similar share of his team’s total air yards. With the Cardinals losing RB Kenyan Drake to the Raiders, expect Kyler Murray and Hopkins to link up more often
The Sleeper: D.K. Metcalf
Last season, Metcalf broke the Seahawks franchise record with 1,303 receiving yards (7th-most in NFL in 2020). That number is extremely impressive when you realize that 788 of those yards came in the first half of the season
Metcalf only had two games over 100 receiving yards after Week 8. With the addition of former Rams offensive coordinator Shane Waldron to the staff, the Seahawks' new offense should give DK plenty of opportunities
The Parlay: (bet $100, win $7,862)
If you put $100 on the favorites, Patrick Mahomes (+250), Derrick Henry (+225), and DeAndre Hopkins (+600), you would be looking at a $7,862 payout. With the way these three superstars show out every year, this might just work!
